What's the deal with writers in SpN taking their stuff down? It's just real odd, because I only remember maybe two or three SV writers doing that but it seems like it's a sport for SpN writers. It's just kind of weird to me. I guess if RL comes inconveniently knocking, a person might be forced to do that. Or like, maybe they got Jesus, or something. I don't have to worry about that, everybody knows what I do, and really...once you're past fifty, hardly anyone gives a shit what you do, as long as you do it with your clothes on. However, once I shuffle off this mortal coil, I can definitely imagine BG hunting down all my shit and erasing it--burning my notebooks in the front yard, screaming, "She wrote stories about fluffy kittens, not gay porn!!!"
But don't worry, The Niece will hook you up--it's in the will. Spread my stories far and wide! Fly, little pornlets, fly!
*koff* going back to work now....

4/11/09 04:27 am (UTC)Is it me, or is the SpN fandom a lot more melodramatic than SV? I mean, yeesh, people! And here I thought the Clanaites mocking and ripping apart the Cloisers was bad, and both sets belittling us poor Clexers. *squints*

4/11/09 04:37 am (UTC)I think part of it is the weekly SpN wank and part of it is guilt. Especially now that Kripke has pretty much announced he's on our LJs reading our porn.
I had similar "OMG I write slash" freak outs and considered taking down fic. But the only people that I'd be afraid of finding out pretty much know what I write
except for the Wincest and I'll deal with the possible fallout from that. I sometimes worry about my co workers finding out but mostly because I don't want to deal with their crap.I understand how it can make problems for some people in more high profile professions but if it's that big of a deal, write something else.
I'm probably going to get smacked for this but maybe it's simply guilt over writing about the epic incestuous love of Sam and Dean?

Hey, she's the best, I tell you! A real doll baby. I mean, BG is my heart, and she'd rip out the kidneys of anyone who dared to hurt me, but whew!! She's a wee bit judgy, that one. :)

4/11/09 04:46 am (UTC)I have also never seen a fandom with so much fic under f-lock, while personal posts are open. It's ANNOYING to follow a rec only to find that so and so has locked fiction. And not just the NC-17 or underage stuff. It's weird.
**Excuse for icon!! I mean... I'm feeling very pious.

Once, I lost my notebook, chock full of Lex fucking Clark, at my job. I'm pretty sure I lost it there. That made for a couple of stressful days, LOL! It never turned up. I'm assuming some one at work had a grand old time with it. *G*
maybe it's simply guilt over writing about the epic incestuous love of Sam and Dean?
Yeah, it's entirely possible. I mean, that's like a humongous taboo, right? And most of us would rather slit our own throats than hop into bed with our siblings--I mean, ew, I have sibs, thank you,and no way. But on the other hand, the story with incest added to it is even more dramatic, more epic world shattering. And let's not forget hot. hokey smokes--look at those guys? On the other *other* hand--it would be ACK!!! if they could reproduce. *shudder*

4/11/09 04:54 am (UTC)I envy your ease of "outness" in fandom, I really do. I lead a double life, with multiple different locking mechanisms on my flist and stuff. I'd like to get over that.

4/11/09 04:55 am (UTC)yeah, why would you lock fic, make folks friend you just for that? Weird. And recced locked-fic is rampant--why the EFF would you rec something locked?
I mean, it's not like the SpN crew is going to show up in your living room one night and spank you for being naughty...damn it. (just one more example how life's unfair....)

4/11/09 05:01 am (UTC)Go ahead. I am. I'm going to Hell. I've accepted it, so I will laugh. I'm having sooo many sacrilegious thoughts right now.

I would freak out so hard over that. My office is very homophobic so co workers finding out about slash is a very bad thing. I rarely write anything at work and if I do, I tear the pages out of the notebook and put them in my purse or pocket. That way the only way anyone can find it is either feeling me up (okay I need brain bleach thinking about that) or going through my things.
Wincest really doesn't bother me that much. It never really did except so much of it that I've read it badly written. I do have the OMG they're related eeew factor with Wincest when an author repeats over and over that "OMG they're brothers." Yes, I got it the first couple of times, let's not mention it in every other sentence. It's distracting. If they could reproduce, then yeah, I'd have a problem with it.
And my lovely little out...if they're not related, it ain't Wincest. Thank you Kripke for giving me an AU to play with where I can slash hot men and not worry about my morals anymore. It was like a REALLY early Christmas present.

4/11/09 05:06 am (UTC)oh man, you've been reading the wrong stuff! Considering how *much* there is of it, I'm constantly amazed at how *good* most of it is. SpN attracted some pretty amazing writers--yeah, there's shit but way less than I expected when I signed on. :)

4/11/09 07:20 am (UTC)Somewhat OT, but this happened to a guy who ran a Dharma & Greg site, and it annoyed me more on principle than because I'd miss the site, because wtf, you'd think mentions of married people having sex wouldn't be an issue with any god at all.
