It takes place between 1835-1865, and I keep calling it a cowboy fic but it's not really, not at all. And I'm taking liberal license with the whole era and the attitudes back then. It's more of a romantic fantasy with a western background, roxy-style.
I'd read that article researching for the story. It was very interesting. I was looking to see if attitudes towards Blacks were different in the western states than in the southern states.
