You're breaking my heart here! Dean's terror at the sight of the riders is vivid and immediate, and I love the way Tobe soothes him (not to mention the way Tobe always understands what Dean's saying without words). That last section with Dean and Tobe is heartrendingly beautiful, especially the way Dean brightens instantly when Tobe calls himself Dean's pa. But poor little Sammy stuck with a fiercely obsessed father, and no big brother Dean to soften John's rough edges.... *cries*
