Wow...damn. Thank you so very much. Thank you for taking the time to really think about this. I hope that doesn't sound bad because I mean it in the best way possible. We love it when someone reads our stuff, and really, just an "I read it" is enough to make me wiggle like a happy guppy. But when someone stops to think about what the story teller was trying to say--wow--that's double plus icing on the cake.
Sam's untold story colors everything in this world. His decision, that one choice, affects the entire world and will for the rest of time.
Oh, yeah, so very very true! If all the previous seasons were about Dean's choices, this one is about Sam's. Actually, it's always been about Sam's choices, I think, because it's his choices that drive Dean. It was what Sam did in Detroit that was Dean's final straw. That 2014 guy was hardly Dean at all, and that finished off Castiel.
