So this dog thing we've got going on....

The dog is really, really cute. And funny--he's got this really goofy-ass face. Plus he makes Mr. Roxy go, "Who's the dog? Who's the dog? you are, oh that's right you are," and bend over to talk to this tiny thing looking up at him from on the floor and it's so fucking cute. And the other best thing--the dog makes him laugh this high-pitched, girly laugh that makes me want to jump the man every time, I can't even explain it. *sigh*

so, anyway, cute dog. who's pooped twice in the living room, and shredded lots of stuff, and steals socks like it's his job. He's gotten real good at the pee thing though--he'll wander towards the general vicinity of the back door when he's feeling peepish. If you're watching him like an obsessive hawk, you'll catch his little signal. It's very subtle. He's a subtle dog.

The other day he tried to jump up on the couch. We're old school--I told him firmly "no." My goodness, the children all jumped and looked like they wanted to hit the floor too. Good to know I've still got it, especially since the fruit of my loins has been treating me like a brain-damaged but kind of adorable hamster lately. Aren't they supposed to wait until you're senile before they do that?

Kids and Dogs---can't live with them--pass the beer nuts. And thanks, Norm.

oh, that mr. roxy. he's the man. a man who needed a dog, it seems. :)

zack poops always on the same general spot on the floor. i gave up on getting him ever to go in the box. my life and welcome to it. :D

possible housetraining trick

Hiya!!

Since he (the dog - not Mr. Roxy) seems to have the general idea of going to the back door when he needs to go out - try hanging/dangling a small bell on the door knob where his little nose can reach it. Then when you take him out to pee/poop, ring the bell w/his nose and praise him to high heaven. They'll associate it pretty quickly that ringing the bell is a good thing and there is peeing at the other end of it...

grown men and puppies - it's never NOT adorable. I've been away a week and am skimming and scanning my flist trying to wade through skip OMGHOWMUCH? but I cannot pass the opportunty to comment on a puppy post.
