Wow...it's Dean's turn to kill with the truth now! Boy, no wonder everyone lies about their feelings, it's been shown time and time again that the truth kills, hah! That was so well done that scene, I believed all that frustration and pain and anger. Now mind you, I'll have to rewatch to get the full sense of it because first time watching I'm always distracted by the beauty. Geez, Jensen is unbelievably good-looking this season. And so on top of things acting-wise.
My buddy Garth was perfect! There's another look at grief and how to handle loss. He's being as much Bobby as he can, and boy I get that right down to the soul. It can be a good, positive way to deal and Garth, Garth is wonderful. I can really believe that he has no rage hidden inside of him. I was glad to see at the end that Dean came around, Garth-wise.
Sam's scenes were a little distracting with the soap opera freeze, but it went a way to explaining how he felt. Why Dean insists that Sam react like he would, I don't know, you'd think after thirty years, he'd have some idea of how Sam works, and it's not like him at all. Still liking the girl--excuse me--*Amelia*. I hope they don't fuck it up.
I'm a little flummoxed by Sam's reaction to Benny. It all smacks of jealousy, which confuses me because I always thought of a selfish Sam so far as Dean's concerned as being more of a fanon thing. So, what else is going on here? What's the real reason Sam's so fucked up about it? Is it just because Dean killed Sam's friend the kitsune? Is it because Dean gave Sam rightly deserved shit about Ruby? Hmmmm...*strokes chins*
Well, I'm sure someone on my flist will explain what's going on because damn, ya'll are smart! I can only say that with Sera gone, we're missing prime opportunities for Sam to take his shirt off, tsk-tsk. Last season he'd have been exposed in all his manscaped glory instead of hiding behind a ginormo undershirt what the hell.

11/8/12 06:49 am (UTC)Also, I'm getting tired of Show having to justify Dean not murdering Benny whilst still in Purgatory and then feeling it necessary to go even further to explain why Dean "resurrected" him post-Purgatory. There's precedent for him not killing supes, and there's even more precedent for him not murdering them. I feel like the whole series has in part been Dean waking up to the fact that, you know, not everything supernatural (heh) is EVIL. That was a boy's logic, and we know Dean's history growing up and his feelings and belief in his dad, and so that black-and-white position made sense and was probably unavoidable. John might have even encouraged it to a certain degree. But, while Sam has learned to accept himself and embrace the Winchester Gospel that means he's never going to be "normal," so Show has been, I personally feel, leading Dean down the personal discovery path too.
And, I just lost my train of thought, so that's the rant! Sorry, Snuggles!
Garth is so fucking awesome! I hope they don't kill him off for awhile. Maybe we can a few more episodes out of that character before TPTB decide the cast list is too long again. *crosses fingers*
Also, yes, Jensen is simply gorgeous. He is "aging" beautifully. I tend to think he's a member of that celebrity spa where they all bathe in the blood of virgin unicorns (as opposed to those slut unicorns that have to exist because otherwise how do unicorns reproduce?), among the likes of Kevin Bacon, The Denzel, Elijah Wood, Keanu, David Bowie, Halle Berry, and many more.
Additionally, while I'm just fucking rambling here, and while we're on the topic of hotness--Jared has pretty hair and beautiful eyes! And, yeah, like you said, hiding the Chest is a no-no. Who do they think they're kidding with that shit?! This season has had a dearth of abs and male nipples. We're good on the dirt, guys, and the blood's shaping up just fine too, but the Ab Count is way too low!
Hi! :) I like talking at you, beloved! This was fun!

11/8/12 08:34 am (UTC)You're the first person I've come across that isn't angry with Dean. Thank you. He's an emotional dude... He has feeeeelings and they're justified IF you look at them from his perspective. But, yes, you're right that he should have learned by now that Sam wouldn't behave the same way he would. I feel for Dean, though, I really do. There was an opportunity for Sam to react in such a way that would help Dean see him as an adult and an individual, but they went for the, "yeah, I already told you, Dean, get over it already" thing instead. *shrugs* That's okay, I guess.
You're also the first person that is equally as puzzled with Sam's reaction to Benny. I mean, the Supernatural universe has already given us Lenore so we're supposed to be able to accept a non-live blood drinking vampire, right? And given Sam's history with Amy, it's confusing why he's hell bent on believing Benny is all bad.
It's all good, though. I'm ready for the storyline to move FORWARD now. *lol*

11/8/12 01:08 pm (UTC)I do so love Show. :)
I loved Garth. And and! I loved Garth snapping at Dean about Bobby. Dean's spent most of his life being isolated, dealing with everything either himself or with his dad and Sam, clinging to any tiny bit of family and love that he can cling to - it was nice to see Garth shake him out of that inward-looking and desperately lonely place and say that Bobby 'belonged to all of us'. That hurt *so much* but it's so true. Bobby was more than just Dean's second dad, and he didn't have the right to tell Garth, essentially, he couldn't grieve the way he needed to. Go Garth!
And sort of linked to that - isolation, loneliness, a desperate need for family and to *matter*, to be loved as much as he loves - Dean's specter-induced rage was spot on and god, so very, very pathetic (in the old sense of the word). Dean's self-worth issues and his need for his family was on raw, desperate parade there, and despite their final scene, Dean isn't going to get over that any time soon. He just isn't. Oh, Dean.
And Sam - i just can't be mad at him. I believe he's still laboring under PTSD issues, was doing so acutely when Dean went to Purgatory and has for years (just like Dean), and most importantly - SAM IS NOT DEAN. He reacts differently, he thinks differently, he *is* different. He did what he did and no matter how much it hurt Dean's feelings, i do think it's in character for him, and i grieve for him.
But, yeah - his Benny thing is aaaaaaall about jealousy, heh. And something else.... Now - the flashbacks. They were weird. They *have been* weird. Everything about his and Amelia's relationship is weird. They're so *fuzzy* and over-saturated and just...*odd*. And i got the powerful feeling - with no real evidence, it just hit me - that Sam and Amelia weren't together-together, at least not by the time he left. (And it's been confirmed he didn't leave because he got a message from Dean, he just left.) I think they were lovers for a while but roommates at the end, more like two veterans living together and helping each other overcome their past hurts than in love. I dunno, that was just something that jumped up in my brain last night.
I need to rewatch. But i love, oh, I love. :) And ah ha - set in Missouri. Show got one thing right - too many jackasses with Confederate flags around here for my taste.
