It's panic time. I've written 18000 words, more or less, on my SpNBB and now I'm not sure about this story at all and if I can move forward or--anything!! I'm panicking all over the place and ready to drop kick it. I have other stories I've started and stuttered on but they could probably be up to speed by check-in.

I just don't know what to do. How should I handle this? Should I work on the possible replacement story and set a time limit to get to a certain word count or just plug away at the story I'm stuck on now? I was thinking on the fic I'm working on now to plunge on from the beginning to the end and then try and clean up and make it pretty. Part of my problem is the way I envisioned the fic in the beginning required a bunch of OCs and now I find I don't *want* to write the OCs. But cutting the OCs out at this point really kills major parts of the story that I did manage to write--big rewrites. Which would make this the third rewrite on the beginning part, lol!! I'm getting so hung up on that part that the rest is wandering in the dark and the first part wasn't even supposed to be that big. Oy.

Ugh. Thanks for letting me bitch here. If you have some advice, I'd be so happy to hear it.

Why'd you change your mind about the OCs? Is there no way you can work them in? It'd be a shame with so much done to scrap it all.

If you really think it's impossible to work out and you have other possibilities waiting in the wings, then you could do one instead.

Not terribly helpful, sorry!

Take a deep breath. 18,000 words is a lot of work to just abandon. I know this doesn't help, but after reading the teaser on the BB sight, I really want to read this story. It sounds amazing. You can do it!!

Write all the fics.

ALL OF THEM.

And I love your OCs, as a rule, so I hope you can manage to get your groove back on that one :)

Okay, so - who's you're beta? Who's reading this over for you? Have them read it, have them then tell you if they get it, if it makes sense, if they understand what you have so far. And then brainstorm a bit with them and see if together you can figure out a way to end it, or a direction you should go in. Tell them what ending you imagined - if you imagined any ending - and figure out how to get there.

And - stop rewriting, right now! Just stop. Get it read, talk about it, then see if you can finish it up even in a rough draft. Then you can start polishing and perfecting.

Now, bb, breathe. Just breathe.

If I remember the SpNBB, you have until the beginning of May. So, you have some time. Especially being 18K in. Have a couple of people read it over for you, doesn't have to be your beta, just a person or two you trust to give it a good look and give you honest feedback. While they're doing that you can either take a breather or take a look at one of the other stories you have on the back burner.

Man, I read BB as "Baby", as in "BabyGirl" & was so relieved it was just about your story!

18,000 words is too much to abandon, imho. (It's also wayyyy more than I've written for my poor neglected big bang...) Maybe changing the OC's, so that you do like them, is the way to go? I'm hoping your helpful beta offers get you feeling better about your fic too. *hugs you in empathy of BB panic*

Hope you are feeling better this morning. Glad that you have betas now, that is grounding, and knowing you're not alone helps.
We love you and your work so much. We know that you'll bring us something lovely. You always do !!
You are an amazing writer, sweetie !!

As others have suggested, I'd totally propose asking your beta to give you feedback on what you have so far. I know I'm already getting all clingy with my beta, even though I only have 4k so far. :-) Good luck with the writing! I'm excited about your fic. :-))

I would suggest working on your back up and saving the other for future posting. Mostly because I'm always overly cautious, but also because it will take a load of stress off of you.
