I love this story because it's Johnny smith and Dean Winchester. That's pretty much all I needed to know to jump in it like good deal. I also really like Leonidaslion's work when she's not scaring the crap out of me or beating me up emotionally (you know I'm a huge weenie about the boys torturing each other). I like looking at Dean through another character's eyes, and I this I got a look at Dean, and a look at another character I really liked, John Smith.
You should read this because it's fascinating, and mixing SpN with other genre shows can be very refreshing, like ice-cold lemonade on a scorching hot day.

And there's this rec for a non-x-over Dead Zone fic, because it will tell you more about John and his life, because the visions Sage draws here for John are so clear and beautiful that I feel like I'm inside them.

Rereading the story for my recs, I saw that I bookmarked it but didn't leave kudos, so when you read these stories at AO3, make sure if you don’t comment, leave kudos. Sure, not everyone is a needy as me, but it can't hurt, right?

These are really good stories--they're based on the TV show, not the book, so there's a difference, but since both of these revolve around Johnny Smith, you don't have to have seen the show to enjoy them!

I saw a few episodes of the show and was disappointed in the direction it took re: his love life and such. I loved the book, and the movie was good, too.

Wow, loved the crossover! I love LL and I hadn't read this one before. So hot and fantastic characterizations of John and Dean...and Sam. Thanks for the rec!

Oh you're so welcome! I thought it had a different flavor than some of her work and I thought she wrote an excellent John Smith. And yes, Sam and Dean. :)
