Not bad! My heart went skippity when Phil Coulson walked on screen, even though I knew, of course. Bits of humor, a little heavy handed on the hero biz but I'm watching the next ep.

I'm planning to keep watching, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.

hah! I expected to be so much less impressed than I was, lol! But the sets were good, and some of the acting was pretty good, and hey, J. August, it was good to see him. :)

so, all in all, not too bad! Now we just need Angel's writers and we're good to go!

J August was wonderful, as always. I always thought Angel was Joss's most underrated show- I'd love it if he gave those writers a job.

Pilots are almost always a little dodgy. You've got to establish your premise (even if you're based on an existing property) and your characters (ditto), and you've got to squeeze in some plot, and you've got to do it in 43 minutes. It's hard to hit that balance and hit the ground running, and Joss hasn't written an episode of TV in 4 years according to the imdb ("Vows", the Season 2 premier of Dollhouse)--his TV mojo's a little rusty, is all. :)

Oh yeah, that's true--Phil bounced about a little in his characterization, but I'm guessing (hoping) that his character will settle as the series does.

Perhaps I will give it a try. Have you watched Sleepy Hollow?

I watched Sleepy Hollow, and I'm still on the fence there. :)

I agree. I think it's beautifully filmed. I'm not sure how far they can take it before they've written themselves into a corner. I also feel like I've seen something very similar... Hmmmm I wonder where?

Yeah, i watched, i was...iffy. J. August was awesome, of course, i was less than impressed with Skye and whatsis, secret agent guy. Good to see Coulson even if he was a little off, YAY for Agent Hill, the Fitz-Simmons team is fun and nobody puts Ming-na in a corner.

So - not 100 percent, but could get better. :)

I hope they get a handle on Phil's character and remember what made him wonderful in the films.

I liked it. The humor was actually funny (IMO). It might have been a little heavy handed in places but I liked it and I really liked that I could watch it with my girls.
It was really great to see Phil again :DD

I liked it a lot but mostly because of Phil. I'm more than willing to give it a solid chance. :)

I'm adopting [livejournal.com profile] norwich36's term of "Pilot-itis" for this one. It was lacking because of it, but good enough to bring me back for the next episode. Some characters were immediately likeable while others were flat out forgettable. And was it just me, or was some of the dialog mumbled and impossible to understand?

Actually, yeah, some of the dialog was muddled. I thought maybe it was me. :)

I'm willing to give it a chance to really grab me, and I'm hoping it does.

I enjoyed it too, and J. August was fun to watch as always. With Coulson himself, I think we're all so used to seeing small bits of him that it's jarring to see him for more than a few minutes out of 43, or at least that's what I think with regards to how I feel. Plenty of room for the show to improve, and downplay the hero stuff more. 'Cause yeah, we get it.

Yeah, hardly anyone tuned in who didn't get it. :)

I'm going to allow it plenty of time to hook me. I'd love to fall crazy in love with a show again. It's been a long, long time since I've lost myself in a show. Besides my current one, of course.

I'm undecided on the show. I'm going to have to watch the pilot again to decide.

I'm kind of getting depressed over what I'm seeing on Tumblr so I don't know if I'll keep watching even if I do end up getting enthused over it.

Is tumblr being unhappy with it? I gotta say, those tumblr folks are kind of...aggressive. and meanish. It's like one big giant high school from what I hear from other folks.

That's a good description actually. It like high school.. with pictures of sexy people all over the lockers.

I clocked it out of curiosity. Less than 3 hours after it aired in the west coast, the hate on shipping started. Mostly, people are hating on the Clint/Coulson shippers. And they hadn't even watched the movies so the stuff they were saying was wrong.

I feel old but I miss when everyone used to keep opinions like that mostly to yourself. "You like ship A but I don't. That's okay. We can still get along." Where did that go?

omg, I know!! What the hell--it's become shipping death matches anymore. SpN is the home of some of the stupidest ship wars ever.

And besides, the one and only OTP is Steve/Phil, wtf why won't anyone realize it????? otp, otp, otp!!!!

Count me as unimpressed but pilots are usually hit-or-miss. I'll give it awhile before I decide to stick with it or drop it. Phil's the only reason I tuned in, so hopefully he'll be involved in a lot of the episodes and not just luring us in and then disappearing.

Lola was awesome! :)

So what is it that Phil "must never know"?

P.S. I did watch the first episode of Sleepy Hollow. I like the Revolutionary tie-ins but am not a fan of horror, so I'm dropping it. How many times can you watch someone get decapitated? *rolls eyes*

I'm guessing he's an LMD, too.

I heard that Tumblr is like high school, too! Probably why I'm not on it. Lived through it once, don't need to again, LOL!

Hating on Clint/Coulson shippers? For shame!

I guess IDIC is long-dead in fandom by now.

Yeah, I was pleased too. I had moderated my expectations based on early reviews, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the entire ep. I'm looking forward to the whole season! In Joss I trust, pretty much.
