You know I *adore* amnesia fics. I love them like a portly child loves torte. I'm not sure why...well, there is the angst factor of us knowing and one character knowing but the other skipping along, all unaware and happy as a daisy in May. Or close to it. I've added a list here of some of my very favorites. I probably mentioned some of these before but they're all worth the reread. Trust me on this. After all, if you can't trust a chubby,scaley, big-headed, little-armed pornographer, who can you trust? Ah?

Sam had known how Dean felt about him when he'd left for Stanford. His own feelings weren't so clear. He'd needed time away from it all, hunting, his father, and especially Dean. It took him five years and a degree he hadn't planned on to realize there was only one person he wanted to share his life with. He'd never considered the possibility that Dean would move on without him...or that something could happen that would erase him from his brother's life completely.
I like stories in which Dean falls in love with someone besides Sam (as long as they're kind enough to either hit the pike or shuffle off this mortal coil) but in the end, it can only be Sam. Kid warning, but the kid is well drawn, and the bacstory...*SNIFF*

In Jefferson, Texas a man ends a generations-old curse and saves all the town's children, but completely loses his memory in the process. When it's discovered that he's a wanted criminal, the town comes together to conceal him out of gratitude for what he's done for them, giving him an apartment, a job and a whole new life. It takes seven months for Sam to find Dean, and when he finally does, he has to adapt to being around a man who has no idea that he used to be Sam's brother.
I reread this once a year so I can cry along with one of the best, most likeable, wish-he-was-my-friend OMCs.

The morning after Sam rescues Dean from the djinn, Sam and Dean go back to the warehouse to take care of the bodies of both the victims and of the djinn. But instead of what should be a simple clean-up job, Sam and Dean are sucked into a nightmare world brought about by the djinn's last dying act of revenge. (Takes place directly after What Is and What Should Never Be.) What do you do when you wake up in a mental institution and you think your brother is dead?
A classic. I wanted to save this for an Asylum rec but it's too good not to post with Amnesia. I'll be posting this again. And again and again. :D

Jerry Bennett didn't remember much, didn't have a fairy-tale life, but it wasn't exactly bad and it definitely was getting better. Especially since that hot guy, Dean, moved into the neighborhood. Now if only his roommates Al and Gabe don't scare him off and Adrie, his coworker, doesn't snag him first…
I laughed a lot when I was writing this and sometimes went 'sniffle'. But mostly laughed. :)
