I had a classic anxiety dream last night, because of the stupid snow I guess. I dreamt I was on a train heading to work, and I looked down and thought--'omgosh, (i think it just like that in my head) I forgot to put on a bra!' That upset me. and then I realized that I'd also forgotten to get dressed. Under my coat I was wearing my nightgown. Not only that, but I was wearing it inside out and backwards. And I hadn't combed my hair, it was all flat on one side and a haystack on the other. I started to cry, and then the train came to a violent stop, and we were all supposed to get off and I didn't want everyone to see me wearing a nightgown. I was just clutching my 1960s style mint-green swingcoat closed (i don't own one) and sobbing like it was the end of the line for me. Which it was in the dream, I couldn't get back on the train. I have the vague impression that people around me knew what was going on and were nice about it. Ack. At least I wasn't naked under the coat.

What's really funny about this dream is that while I haven't worn a nightgown to work, I have showed up with my shirt inside out. And backward. A few times. Once, a coworker called me over and whispered "Your shirt is inside out." all quiet and private-like. Of course, I fell out laughing and she looked at me uncomfortably for a bit before laughing too. Another time, this same coworker pulled me aside and said, "You have a huge splotch of face cream right in the middle of your forehead." I thought that was pretty funny, too. I'm sure by now, this woman is convinced that I'm totally bonkers. You know, there are so may issues that really upset and absolutely paralyze me that stuff like that? It's just too funny. what the hell, right? :D

Oh man, I hate those dreams. That coat sounds pretty fab. At least you were partially well dressed.

You think wearing your shirt backwards is bad. I was walking around at work and there was this weird thing hitting my ankle. I looked down and there was a pair of underpants hanging out the bottom of my jeans. I was half asleep getting dressed and put on the jeans I had taken off the night before. Classy, huh?

HAHAHAHA!!!

YOU WIN!

The closest I came to that was going to work with a sock clinging to my back.

I have been known once, or twice, to get it into work with my top on inside out, 'cause i get dressed in near darkness in the winter. Has amused some of my colleagues no end. Definitely something to laugh at rather than get upset over.
I don't usually remember my dreams, though i must have them, cause i wake up rested. The last dream i vividly remember, was a recurring nightmare i used to have more than 13 years ago. Woke up sobbing in the early hours of New Years day. Freaked me out all day, kept getting distracted at work. Really really unsettling.

oh gosh--you had a bad dream New Years Day? That sucks a lot.

I was surprised that I remembered as much of this dream as I did--especially the coat! What a weird detail to remember.

I love that when you have a dream you remember the most bizarre and fabulous details.

And that when you're actually having the dream and a detail does not feel right you actually question it. It's like having a DVD commentary on whilst having the dream. Two similar but different trains of thoughts

God I hope that ramble made some kind of sense!?!

Oh yes!! Like having a memory in the dream and suddenly going, "wait, what...is this true?" and then the dream tries to convince you that yes, it is, so you don't wake up.

LOL!!! What, change the fuzzy slippers? That reminds me of when BG was in high school and went everywhere in her big fuzzy pig slippers, Hammy and Scrappy. :D

Elf currently has fuzzy pink pig slippers, and she wears them out *all the time*.

I just stare in utter, old-people bafflement.

I can honestly say that I have never had any dreams like that, but when I was a kid I used to have all kinds of weird dreams about ET, the Incredible Hulk, shopping with Harrison Ford, and Han & Chewie picking me up in the Millennium Falcon that was shaped like an actual falcon. *G*

Not quite the same, but I often drive my daughter to school in just my pajamas, and I worry that I'll get into a car accident and have to get out and exchange insurance information looking like that. Sometimes I pass an accident and feel loads better when I see the people all the way dressed. And safe, of course ...

Of course, of course!

Though I would suggest your pajamas top and bottom match, just in case. My favorite pair are the bottoms to an old pair of cowboy print PJs and a t-shirt with Lex Luthor for President on it. :D

I have a lot of those dreams, although usually not quite that elaborate. (Go, your imagination. :) If it makes you feel better, I actually did go to work without a bra a few weeks ago. Luckily my boobs are not that big and I wear loose scrub tops to work, but I felt like people were staring at my (not) chest all day. I don't even know what happened.

Lol, I'm glad. It was so weird. I didn't even think about it until I'd been at work a couple of hours and realized. It's not unusual for me to wear just a tshirt without a bra around the house, so I guess the scrub shirt felt the same? I was super tired that morning? I don't even know. I do know I was extra scrupulous about wearing my lab coat that day, though. :D

I went out like that once. I was working two jobs, one night shift, and forgot to set my alarm. Went out to meet friends still in my nightgown, just threw a coat over the top. Oddly enough, after doing that I never had those dreams again.

(What was nice was they had left the movie ticket for me at the box office and the guy who owned the theatre came up to ask me if I was me, that he had my ticket, because my friends knew I was so reliable that I would definitely be there, or I was dead. Good to have that reputation - but I'd rather turn up in my nightgown than let anyone down).

Wow--you are reliable! But now that you say you went out in your nightgown, I'm kind of jealous. It must have been really comfy. :D
