I see that it's set during season 7, and I'm juuuust about to finish season 6. Is it very spoilery? Should I wait a few weeks until I get caught up to the setting?

You might want to wait if you're totally unspoiled. It's really, really AU but there is a big point of canon that I don't want to spoil you for.
