No spoilers, I'm still thinking. Reeling. It was really...disturbing. I'll have to rewatch for sure, I never really get it until the second or third time I watch the ep. In the mean time it was oddly upsetting, like, way out of proportion to what went on. At least thinking about it will distract me during my dental appointment, which I am looking forward to like one looks forward to a scourging.

eta: I loved the title card for this season, very nicely done, I thought.

You know what's funny about this is that I love going to the dentist.

I get to sit back in a comfy chair for half an hour and basically get a time out where I have NOTHING TO DO. That doesn't ever happen, not even when I go to sleep. So, the dentists is pretty much my happy place.

Reeling and disturbed in a good way, because it's making you think? Or in a bad way because it didn't make sense or you didn't like it. It was super upsetting, I found myself saying "oh sam" in a small sad voice the whole time. Hope it worked as a good dental distractor! And yup the title card is bee-you-ti-ful this season.

You know, it was kind of triggery, sort of. Dean scared me, and not in an SpN monster way, a little too much like RL way. Of course, that was just my first reaction, and like I say, I very rarely catch on to stuff the first time around, normally, I'm all bafoozled by the hotness. :D

I've still got a whole two hours in which to enjoy my dentist phobia, yay! I should be nicely wrung out and quiet by the time I get there, lol!

Oh no, I'm sorry, I guess I could see that though. He was more RudeDrunkyDean than DemonDean. I haved defiinitely encountered drunken jerks like him before. And the beating he laid on that gross boyfriend was scary to see. I was glad Ann-Marie called him out on his behavior.
Bafoozled by the hotness, oh yes, I'll admit to watching a few certain scenes several times, maybe on slo-mo even. Hope your teefs are ok by now.

Yeah, the Demon Dean turned out to be exactly what he looked like in the promo (which is novel): Dean turned up to 11 with his brake lines cut.

That was a hell of an episode. I rather love Dean's amused dismissal of Crowley, and how he just does. not. give. a. fuck.

Except for how he does, re: the waitress, and Crowley lying, and Sam..... Dean cares and doesn't care and oh, I can see this season is going to be *fun*.

I <3 u so much rt now. This is exactly what I love about what Jensen is doing with this version of Dean. I love that he tells Cole he doesn't care about Sam then in the next breath he threatens to kill him if anything happens to Sam. Then when he asks Anna Marie to go away with him and she says no, he lashes out at her to make her go away so he can lick his wounds. So twisted. I feel like if anything, this absence of Dean's normal compassion and need to protect people will only leave him with nothing left but to focus on his insecurities and all the things he thinks is wrong with himself. Maybe Demon Dean isn't so much evil as depressed and thus violent.

I think it was significant that Ann Marie accused him of putting on some kind of act. I think the truth is, he was already so far gone at the end of last season he really isn't any different now. He's just pretending not to care . . . and failing.

It wouldn't be the first time Dean's used a crutch to try to drown his pain and the power of the Mark isn't any different than all that booze a few seasons back. A drug's a drug.

Yeah, they played demon!Dean so subtle through most of the episode that the two REALLY dark moments he got, the cruelty to Anne Marie, and then that LAST SCENE :-S ... really stood out and were totally chilling and disturbing. :(

I don't think Dean actually doesn't care about Sam, though. I think we're meant to think that right now, but I don't think it's the case. I think he'd LIKE to not care about Sam, but he wrote "Sammy" on the note, and he threatened the dude's life if he hurt Sam, so... I think we'll see next episode that Dean cares a little more than he'd like to show. <3
