....and I should be cleaning house and making dinner, I decided to do this instead. I was staring at my wallpaper, the lovely pic of TW all in purple with the purple lipstick OMG, that the fabulous and highly talented
laurab1 made and it collided in my mind with SV Babies. This is the result.
Set in Babies'verse, but just loosely connected to it.

Pete and Lex were paying scrabble and Whitney lay on his back half under the coffee table and reading a magazine. Clark lay on the couch, sleeping the sleep of the innocent, and snoring just a little.
Suddenly he giggled in his sleep, drawing the attention of the other boys.
Pete looked over at Lex and said, “You know, he’s a real deep sleeper. Have you tried to wake him up when he’s sleeping?”
Lex looked at Pete in all seriousness and said solemnly, “No Pete. I can’t say that I have.” Whit coughed, and shifted under the table.
Pete scowled at him a bit. There was always that tiny feeling when Red talked to him that he was making fun of him.
Lex grinned at him; he loved making Pete make The Nose.
Whitney meanwhile had gotten up and walked over to the couch. He picked up a candy wrapper one of them left on the table and put it on Clark’s nose.
His breath made it flutter and his nose wrinkled slightly but there was no other reaction.
He poked him gently in the ribs, harder still when he got no reaction.
He turned to the other two and said, “Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
Lex spoke up. “I think so Brain, but how are we going to get the swim team to wear the tutu’s?”
Whit snorted and grinned. “Pete, does your mom have makeup in the bathroom?
“I don’t know. Maybe, I guess—oh, no Whit! You wouldn’t dare!”
Pete was already up and headed towards the bathroom. “That would be cruel, and evil …”
“And pretty darn funny,” Whit laughed and Lex just grinned.
Half an hour later, and Clark stretched and yawned.
“Man! I was asleep for a while, hunh? Why didn’t you guys wake me up?”
“Oh, we tried,” Lex smiled, “ but you sleep like a log, Clark. Is it always so hard to wake you?
“Mmm,” he replied, and wiggled his jaw, “My face feels weird…”
“Hey Clark, let’s go get a soda, the guys want to go get a soda,” Lex said and threw in what he considered the ultimate bribe, “plus, the newest issue of Warrior Angel is coming out today.”
“Uhn—we getting a ride? “
“Oh no, we’re taking our bikes.” Whit replied with an air of innocence that made Clark hesitate because he was not about to go along on one of Whit’s ‘shopping trips’.
He looked at Lex and Lex shrugged.
“Don’t worry, we’ll make sure he behaves,” he said and mock glared at Whit’s totally unrepentant face.
Pete fidgeted and snickered and looked like he was about to explode. Clark asked him what was up and Pete looked desperate for a second and then crowed, “I beat Red at scrabble!” and Lex whipped his head around and glared at him and then very grudgingly agreed that, yes he had.
“So! Let’s roll!” Whit called out and they tumbled out of the house and onto their bikes, and it became the day that Clark went ballistic—
*****************
“How in the HELL can you call yourselves my friends and let me ride ALL over town—with—with--- this FACE on!”
The others were laughing so hard tears ran down their faces and they held onto each other to keep from falling.
“Clark! Clark, your face when Lana asked you why…why…” Whit couldn’t speak, and his laughter hit that pitch where it became inaudible and he dropped to the ground. Pete had given up completely; he rolled over the lawn and cried,” Clark, man, man,” and lost all power of speech.
Sam came strolling up the drive, and stopped dead when he saw Clark.
“Hey, Kent…you’ve got.” He made a vague hand movement in the direction of his face. “Stuff. On your face.”
He looked at the other boys and grinned slowly. “Nice girls, very nice. Laugh now, you know what they say, payback’s a bitch. But damn.” He looked back at Clark and shook his head. “I don’t know what you can do to get back at *them*. Damn. And you had this boy downtown?” He asked and the guys just nodded and gasped.
He tried really hard not to laugh, and just shook his head again.
He walked off and Pete and Whit followed him, glancing over their shoulders at Clark and snickering.
Clark stood looking after them, torn between wanting to kick their butts and wanting to kick their butts.
Lex looked at him, still smiling a little and brushed his hair back from his forehead, the way he did when things got intense.
“Listen, Clark, I’m sorry. Really.”
Clark folded his arms over his chest and pouted. “So? You let them do it.”
“What makes you think I can get them to do what I want…” He stopped at Clark’s pointed look and snort. “Yes, okay…You’re right, I didn’t try to stop them. But come on Clark, you’ve got to see the humor in it…what about Mrs. Moran’s face when she saw you?”
Clark tried to look angry, but even he had to admit, it was kind of funny the way her eyes shot open when she saw him…a little funny. Not funny enough to forgive them.
“Go wash up Clark. I’ll wait for you here.”
Clark turned to go into the house, and hopefully not run into Mrs. Ross, when he heard Red say softly, “Hey Clark. If it helps at all, you’re a really cute girl. I like the purple lipstick.”
“*No! * It doesn’t help…. Really? Shut up!” Clark turned red and dipped his head to hide his grin. “Screw you, Red!" Red was crazy. Clark ran into the house, flipping off Lex as he went inside.
But he felt better than he’d felt all day.
