He's white. Me too. If either of us had been black, we'd probably be dead or in prison. I want to say the world is sucking so hard right now, but it has always been this way--it's just all out in the open now because of the availability of tiny video cameras.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. We as a society, as a nation, may be in the throes of step one now.

We are in step one. It's a mighty long step. Generations long. But I have hope that one day, my great-great grandchildren will honestly be judged by their character, and not their color.

But I'm going to leave them a note on my tombstone, telling them not to hold their breath.

*sigh* sometimes it gets a bit too much--you folks here keep me going. :)

I just remembered my niece was pulled over for no reason once. She's mixed. The cop told her that she had an outstanding warrant in another city. She had to go to jail. I shudder to think what might have happened to her if her one phone call hadn't been to her white, doctor husband, who came and rescued her dog where the cop made her leave it in the car on the side of the road, then got her out of jail. The warrant mysteriously disappeared when he started trying to find out about it. They found out later that this shithole town in south Arkansas had a population that was thirty percent registered sex offenders.
Yes the world is sucking.
