So, it's been a while since I actually *posted* posted.

I've been reading plenty and trying to leave comments. I've posted a huge piece of Public Enemies which was soundly ignored. Ah, Fandom--you no-taste having, won't read anything requiring you to spend more than five minutes of your lives trying to put words together, panties-obsessed, don't wanna read het but want all your men to be underage boys wearing women's lingerie and lip-gloss....

*takes a deep breath* No, no, Roxy. Let it go--woosah, Om, muhfuckin' Om...you know you like a well-written panties story, yourself. God knows, the good ones are few and far between.

Anyhoo, bitter that my toiling in the fandom vineyards rated a thimbleful of wine, I'm done. *throws little words to the winds* Fly little ones, find a good home. And if you can shit in the keyboards of those less deserving, that'd be nice.

Whut? I have feelings, yo.

Another reason I haven't been very active is that I have no alone time in which to be active. I can, and do write, when Mr. R is hanging about. For really getting into it, I have to be alone. Which usually meant staying up late nights and writing, or waiting for a day off and writing. Lately, though, I have had no days off during the week, which is prime time for me. When I do have a Saturday or Sunday off, there are people who want to see me. Masochists, every one of them. *shakes head*

spock smash no animiOh, and *another* reason is this piece of shit, crappy-ass fucking laptop which has finally shredded my last nerve. I can't anymore, so I'm in the market for something new. Fortunately, I don't require much because I can't afford much. I was thinking of an Acer Switch, something BG likes. She's as computer-savvy as I am, and uses it for just about as much as I do—though her pics feature much less unclothed men than mine do— and it's *cheap*. This is very important.

Mr. R has tuned out my high-pitched wines of distress and demands for help, (can't imagine why) leaving me on my own with this thing. So, any suggestions, my friends?

On the up side, I've discovered goat gouda cheese—omg, so delicious—and *podfic!*

Hush! I know the rest of the world found it ten years ago, but it's brand-new to me. Old folks like to take things slowly; poking stuff with their canes to make certain whatever it is won't explode. Plus there was this weird thing I had…I had to overcome my embarrassment at hearing folks read fanfic out loud.

This podfic stuff is...well, it's quite entertaining on several levels. There's the story of course, and the weirdness of having someone else tell you how the sound and feel of a story should go. It's also...soothing, in an odd way. Someone is telling you stories about characters you feel like you know, so it's extra-fascinating. And then there's the sex, of course--kind of embarrassing to hear out loud. I'm shy that way. Anyway, I'm enjoying that very much, and it helps, after a long day at Red Bulls eye Satan, to listen to the adorable adventures of two bozos in love, because those are my style of stories, and that is how I roll. (ha, see what I did…never mind)

Normally, I'd delete a post as stuffed full of whining about my writing as this one is, but there you have it, the state of me. Tired, achy, bitter, but also fannish in a new-to-me way...and full of delicious cheese.

I'm sorry bb :( I know the feeling well. I have not actually read your series at all so I've put it on bookmark so I can read it when I have some time :) I confess that I do not know the movie off the bat so I wondered if I would be able to enjoy it, but I took a peek at the end and the content itself looks up my alley ;)

Feta cheese yummmm<3 Do you eat it plain or steeped in olive oil and herbs? I like the former in greek salad, and the latter on toasted french bread *drools*

Podfic is one of those things I have a hard time enjoying since I love the sound of my own voice too much and don't have much time to spend on fanfic. Reading is so much quicker :)

Hope you get a nice new computer soon!

Ach, that story! I confess it spun a bit out of control, so now I'm going to have to reel it back in. And hope for the end to come up. The movie is basically the skeleton I wrote my story on so not knowing the movie is no big deal, trust me! :D

I've not tried it with olive oil and herbs but girl! That sounds so good! I will try it.

Podfic is lovely on the drive home after work. It works so much better at distressing me than music, lately. Plus it fills those hours I'm not reading J2, lol!

Wish me luck on the computer thing! At this point, I'm almost in tears whenever I have to type anything!

Looking forward to reading!

Def you should. You can buy the stuff in a bottle, but you could probably make it yourself too. Not just the cheese, but bread dipped in the oil *swoons*

Yes! If you have a nice drive to and from work podfic is the thing. Reminds me of Steven King, who says he reads recorded books while he drives because he doesn't have much time otherwise :) I mostly walk everywhere or ride the train, so reading is better for using that traveling time.

Good luck!!!

Well that totally SUCKS BALLS (and not Jared or Jensen's) : (

I confess, I have not read your story, but it's on my tab now because I've loved everything I've ever read of yours. I may be slow right now, but I'll will work my way through it I promise! I'm good for about 5k at a time before the brain kacks out.

I totally agree there is a rabid following of the PWP on AO3. I'll see 1000 kudos for a 3k piece of porn for teen wolf. I mean, seriously? Then I read it and it's like MEH.
So we have two things against us, withering interest in Supernatural (there is just so much tonage of existing fic, it's hard to even weed wack through to the new stuff) and plot. How dare you!

I agree about the writing in quiet, not that I'm writing, but when I could I needed a quiet house and no company. Had to get in the groove of the story and let my little mind motion picture camera go wild.

Goat cheese is AWESOME. I also love this weird log of goat cheese (kind of sushi sized, but 6 or 7' long), that has cranberries in it. A slice of that on a lovely cracker of your choosing...heaven. Hey and better to discover it now than never.

Podfics are a bit funny aren't they. I love reading [livejournal.com profile] juice817's podfics because they are usually funny and romantic, but not filled with the pornz. Because unless it's a really good reader it's funny hearing porn read by a girl. I know that seems two faced, since I'm a girl writing porn. I am a complex beast.

But this beast loves you and thinks you're terrifically talented. Never doubt it.
I'd give you some computer advice, but I'm on a mac, so I'm totally out of the loop, but really all you need is for it to run word (for the all important fic making) and a good web browser, right? So a decent processor i7 is good and at least 32GB of ram because no one wants a slow laptop. I would advise getting a real laptop not just a tablet, there are so many things you can't do on a tablet (or iPad in my case) a real computer I think is the way to go.

Love you like my luggage

Thank you, and thank you!

I warn you, Public Enemies is LONG. And the slowest of slow-builds. And weird. But fun. :D

People write stories about guys they don't even know. There's not even an attempt to keep their protagonists in character. Who the fuck are these people who claim to be Sam and Dean? What's driving them to shtup each other? How does the fact that they're brothers affect them? Not explored at all. And I'm down for filthy, nasty, fucked up porn, but I need a little more than what they're giving us. It's sad to be here, watching SpN slowly wilt, but that's the way it goes in fandom and SpN has been a giant for a long, long time.

Goat cheese is a godsend for those of us lactose intolerant folks who can do it. Cranberries in the cheese sounds delicious! I love cranberries in stuff.

It *is* weird hearing a girl read porn! And it's even weirder hearing your own porn read out loud! Tipsy Kitty did a fic of mine last year--bought by macaronielbow to do so. I just listened to it recently and it was...odd. I waffled between "hmm, not bad" and omgaaaaawd, I suck!"

♥ ♥ ♥ You're too kind! :)

I had to check to see why I didn't read it, and then I understood I didn't read it because in terms of historical periods, the 20s aren't my cup of Pepsi. I pretty much shut down on anything after the Civil War (with the exception of the Titanic). Maybe later, though?

I gotta admit--podfic freaks me right the fuck out. I don't know what it is. Then again, my reaction to books on tape was "why listen to a book when I can read the book *and* listen to my music?" So maybe just me being weird again. :)

Ah, Fandom--you no-taste having, won't read anything requiring you to spend more than five minutes of your lives trying to put words together, panties-obsessed, don't wanna read het but want all your men to be underage boys wearing women's lingerie and lip-gloss....

I hear you on this one. *sighs* Although as a gen writer, I get to make the heads of both fandom *and* academia explode, so there's that. :)

PS: I like reading writing whining. (Er, don't try to say that one three times fast.) Makes me feel less alone in this world. It's a delusion, true, but I like delusions. :)

Oh, it's a huge word dump of a story, and it's pretty much a passing nod to history. It's not quite magic Gayland, but it's close. Too many people are too open about their sexuality and we know in those days, that sure didn't fly. Still it's kind of fun to read if you take that into account. Civil War, hunh? I've never written in that old a period of time--too much research! :)

I was weirded out by it too, but I wanted to hear stories, since I have less time to read these days, and drving home from work seemed the perfect time to do it. It's odd--once I got past the first one, I had no trouble after that.

"why listen to a book when I can read the book *and* listen to my music?" So maybe just me being weird again. :)

I totally get that, though.

PS: I like reading writing whining.

Hell, I'm about to put you on a filter so you can read all the whining, bitching, writing posts I delete! Trust me, there's a hell of a lot of them! :D

I have no brane right now but I am reading my way through Public Enemies from the beginning because somehow I missed it when I began to consume your oeuvre (waggles eyebrows). Reading comprehension and retention are shot, lately though, so it will take a while.

I would like some goat cheese. Maybe a schmear on a hunk of rosemary focaccia.

Basically I just wanted to let you know I so very much appreciate your Snoopy icon, and tell you ILU, Roxy.

I know, I haven't read yet! I literally have about eight 'to read' folders with all the tabs of stuff i want to read from various times. I'll have a billion tabs open and Firefox will act all goofy and i have to save 'em and start 'fresh' and of course, that means *moar tabs*. S o. I'm getting there, I swear!
*hugs*

I can't do podfic. I don't care if anyone wants to make pods of *my* fic, but i can't stand headphones, i don't like not being able to hear what's going on in the house, and if i sit in here where my computer/the speakers are, i'd be sitting and staring into space to listen, instead of doing something like dishes or whatever. I could listen in my car, but i never drive anywhere for more than ten minutes, usually. So. Just doesn't work for me. But there are some awesome ones out there.

Cheeeeeeeeeeeese. I luff cheese. :)

I...actually got a laptop. It's a Dell. It cost...under 400 (but we have credit there), and it's got everything i need. I can go online, stream Netflix, etc. I dunno what your budget is, but make sure you have adequate storage and/or external hard drives for all your illegal download needs. :)

Oh no, don't you *dare* feel any kind of way about not reading this monster, not when I'm so behind on your amazing stories, beloved.

I get you about the podfic--if I couldn't do the headphones, then the listening would be a weird time-suck. But it's great to listen to something I actually want to listen to on the way home. My drive is long enough that I can get into a story and get pretty far into it before I'm back home. I walk in the house smiling because the stupidity of the day has been written over by the boys. :D

Laptop sounds good to me! Under 400$ sounds even better!! I'm going to look into that, too! ;)

We'll read, we'll catch up. :)

That's cool! If i had a long drive, i'd probably do that. Nice way to end the day!

I think this is the one I got, or close. It's excellent, except for windows 10. I downloaded 'Classic Shell' so it would look and act like Windows XP (which is what i had). :)
