I have a new laptop on order. Pray with me that once again, I'm part of This Thing of Ours.

Christmas was lovely, I got wonderful cards from folks, plus some lovely little gifties. I thought I was on it this Xmas, actually getting cards out on time--er, some of you may not have received cards because I put the addresses wrong, and some of you may have gotten odd messages because I swear I mixed up cards and envelopes...

My new year's resolution is to get back in touch with--*everything*. People and home and life stuff that I've let go for a little too long. Happy New Year, everyone! (I added that bit on, I've been trying to post this since before New Year's Eve, lol!!)

How oddly serendipitous, or in synch. I mentioned it to OH night before last, and then we sat down yesterday over coffee to talk about how insular I've gotten over the past year, and how to help push me into getting out and doing stuff again. I've felt like crap for a while, and I seem to be feeling better, so I think it's time to jump on that as impetus, and maybe build on it a little.

It's a little scary challenging, but a little exciting, too.

One of the first outings is to A. haircut, and B. look at laptops. I dropped mine and broke a hinge several months ago. OH used binder clips and duct tape to hold the lid/screen on, but it was fixed in one position. Night before last, I closed it from habit and heard the hinge go. He used *bigger* binder clips and *more* duct tape to reconnect the hinge, but it's at an odd angle, and we both know it's only a matter of time until I forget and close it again. So it's off (out!) to hands-on laptops that are available and take notes, so we can evaluate and sift to get me a new one. The computer is still good. We may hook it up to a monitor and mouse and let it keep on trucking.

Um--too much about me. I hope your new laptop heralds a glorious reentry into Eljay and fic and Stuff that's Fun!

Never too much about you!

I'm going to the movies today, because I don't think I can talk my way out of it--first step to joining the world again. (not-happy-face)

I was actually pretty good last year, until the end of the year rolled around and I had to work more hours, and it became an almost desperate desire on my part to get away from people. The feeling just expanded until it seemed that all I did was go to work, then come home and go to sleep and ignore email and calls. Oy.

Omg! Good luck on your laptop shopping! You deserve it, my word! Though where would we be without duct tape and clips? :D :D :D

And at this moment, I'm enjoying a fresh new haircut! It makes me feel like a brand-new person. A person who's in charge of themselves--go me! :D

I did, I did! I felt very flattered! i'm typing now on my brand new itty-bitty laptop. It'll take some getting used to--I think the words actually appearing as I type will take some getting used to, as this has not been the case for me for quite a while :D

the laptop came! It's all shiny and new and tiny!! :D I went from a 17" screen to 12" and you know, I like it! :)
