The first time I read Nostrilla--ages and ages and ages ago in the time of the sabertooth, I had a hard time understanding it. I thought the main character was a mook and the writing style too simple and kind of childish, but it also had this trippy, fairy tale quality about it that kept me reading. (ah-- the good old days when every page of an SF book was a new journey into strangeness and wonder.)

I started reading it again during the Great Whiteout, and now-- I find the main character simple and innocent, trusting--but with a streak that's not as innocent as people think and a bit of a temper, the writing style too, simple and clean but also kind of lyrical...hah! listen to me.

Also, I keep seeing Aliem Boy as the main character. Strange, no?
It's not something I normally do, but I keep making parallels to Clark.Hmmm.

Anyway, the book is Norstrilla, by Cordwainer Smith and you really should check it out.

Oooo! It's like Reading Rainbow up in here. Except I'm just a little cuter than LaVar.

You're a lot cuter than Levar. And he's a cutie pie. Thanks for the rec.

Yeah, I read that. A long, long, time ago. I don't even remember what it's about now.
