Children can be horribly difficult. herohunter got me in a nostalgic mood this morning, thinking about my beloved Baby Girl and what an extremely difficult child she was. Oh, she was wonderfully well-mannered , loving and obedient, it's just that she never, ever slept, and she never ever ever wanted to be without me. Ever. Think Manitou, or any flick where the guy pulls up his shirt and there's a face in th middle of his chest. She was aspiring for that kind of closeness it seemed. Creepy? You bet? Annoying and exasperating? You bet!
Thus, God in her wisdom, makes kids so darn cute, you can't bring yourself to smother them in their sleep. Wanna see how cute?

Oh, how adorable! I read somewhere that baby mammals are all "cute", and that ensures that their parents don't eat them. Under some conditions that doesn't always work, but sometimes that instinctive response is strong enough to even work cross-species. Like those stories where human children are raised by wolves or bears, or a dog adopts a kitten. Nature is sometimes whimsical.

I think that's absolutley true, otherwise, we'd definitely leave the little soaking wet smelly yelling little piles of pooh producers by the side of the road.
Babies, not my forte...heh!
