Children can be horribly difficult. herohunter got me in a nostalgic mood this morning, thinking about my beloved Baby Girl and what an extremely difficult child she was. Oh, she was wonderfully well-mannered , loving and obedient, it's just that she never, ever slept, and she never ever ever wanted to be without me. Ever. Think Manitou, or any flick where the guy pulls up his shirt and there's a face in th middle of his chest. She was aspiring for that kind of closeness it seemed. Creepy? You bet? Annoying and exasperating? You bet!
Thus, God in her wisdom, makes kids so darn cute, you can't bring yourself to smother them in their sleep. Wanna see how cute?

She's sooo cute.

One of my favorite cartoons has a panel showing a mother praying to God. She says something like - "You know how I prayed because I was lonely and asked never to be alone again?"

Then the panel moves back and you see her child playing on her legs and she says - "I didn't mean it literally."
