L&C Do Europe part 12
7/21/05 02:05 pmPrevious Parts are here, playing pin the tail on the donkey. Wait a minute…that’s not a tail…
So, here’s the last bit I wrote before I hit the wall. Not to worry, my friends, I know it’s a temporary block and I have the weekend off to work, so I’ll pull it out, no doubt. See, the problem is that I just want to read and read. (well that, and I’m lazy as hell)
Could ya’ll stop being so fascinating for a moment? It’s not fair,
thecaelum has a beautiful set of drabbles going on at her place,
dianehc is killing me,
aurora_bee has a cute and sad little story at her lj,
dustandroses has a Daniel/Jack fic that’s burning up the place! And I have to tell you, the Holmes/Watson folks have some real hotness going on over there…okay, so I’ve been kind of busy, heh!
Anyhoo, here’s my contribution to the Reading Rainbow--*gigglesnorf* Shut up. It’s funny. Oh all right.
The Wages Of Sin…
Morning broke like a bad dream, and Lex rolled to his back and sighed, eyes on the ceiling and arms folded across his nude chest. After it became completely evident no explanation for the weirdness that had become his life was pasted to the rafters, he slid off the bed. Emilio didn’t move, thank goodness.
He padded into the bathroom and ran a tub while he brushed his teeth and let himself think about what had happened the night before.
Clark had gotten…drunk. One drink, and he’d been completely drunk. Frighteningly drunk. He was pretty sure that Clark had topped him at his worst in his club days and he’d never gotten that fucked up just drinking, he’d needed chemical help to get *that*shit-faced.
It wasn’t normal. He’d certainly seen more then his fair share of partying and he’d never ever seen anyone get like that so quickly—what the fuck was up with Clark…he brushed harder and frowned at himself in the mirror and his foam-ringed mouth made him think of that old movie with the kid and the rabid dog—all he needed was for someone to drag him out behind the barn and blow his brains out. He stopped, leaned over the sink and stared at the drain. God, if only he could get Clark to do that… He blushed and glowered harder thinking about the kisses he’d smeared all over his head—damn it. He hated that.
All right, he was lying, it’d made him instantly hard as stone—fuck! And then Clark made it worse, told him he loved him. Double fuck.
He got in the tub and tried to relax. The kid had been sick and stinking and so fucked up he could barely see. Sure Clark loved him, of course he did. Lex remembered nights after he’d managed to drag his ass to bed wherein he’d loved his pillow so deeply he’d have killed for it. Possibly attempted to start a family with it….
He groaned and sunk up to his neck in the tub, letting the heat soak into him, loosening the stiffness in his back and jaw.
Emilio had done his best to apologize, at least. He’d cleaned up the mess Lex had made expressing his…irritation… about Clark’s state, and Emilio’s part in it, and it was likely he may have been a little miffed that Emilio hadn’t pushed Clark immediately away when he’d tried to kiss him…and he’d definitely waited a little too long to pull his fingers out of Clark’s mouth.
He groaned and it echoed slightly as the tiles bounced the sound back at him. Water splashed as he shifted uncomfortably. Emilio was talented, passionate and very generous in bed, he had to give him that. Lex groaned again, this time in dismay. And god was he ever understanding. Lex doubted he could be so forgiving if someone had yelled another’s name in his ear like that.
Lex stretched out in the tub, considering how what he knew of the world had changed. Some things were constant—Dad was a royal pain in the ass, life was a constant series of a sharp nasty surprises, Lana, through no real fault of her own, was an annoying thorn in his side, Clark was straight and off limits—and here was where one of life’s little surprises tripped him up. Clark…Clark might not be as straight as he thought he was. Clark definitely had some…curiosity. Lex shivered and sunk lower in the tub, until he was up to his mouth in the water. His life just got even more difficult. Or the gods wanted to destroy him. “Good opening shot,” he grumbled. “I can practically hear my sanity crumbling.”
He grabbed a washcloth off the edge of the tub, soaked it in the steaming water and draped it over his eyes, leaned back and just…breathed.
He lay in the tub until the water turned cold.
The smell of fresh coffee lured him into the dining room, where Emilio already sat, waiting for Clark and Lex to join him. He handed him a newspaper and slid a full cup towards him with a smile and a wink.
It was really quite annoying, Lex thought, how fit and rested and disgustingly glowing with health Emilio looked. Lex knew he didn’t look anywhere close to as well rested as his friend, he felt as if he’d been beaten in his sleep. He folded his newspaper and laid it down as Clark entered the room.
Oh my.
He looked up at Clark and shuddered as he slid blindly into the chair across from Lex and groaned softly under his breath. Lex poured him a glass of milk with a smile and smirked a little when Clark paled. In fact, he was rather cheese-colored, he had circles under his eyes and he squinted in the bright morning light flooding the dining room. Every so often, he’d make a tiny gasping sound and wince. He spread his hands over the cool tiled top of the dining room table and leaned away from the light pouring in from the open windows.
Lex really was sympathetic, he was. He bet that little breeze belling the curtains made Clark fee like he was being rubbed down with burlap. Poor guy. Beat he was sensitive to sound too…He cleared his throat loudly and dropped his silverware on the tiled tabletop. “Oops,” he smiled when Clark gasped and held his head.
“Are you ready to take a little day trip today?” He asked at Clark. Clark looked at him in horror.
“I was—I was hoping we could just lay by the pool today- you know get some sun? I really think I need some sun, Lex…”
Lex started to cave, Clark really looked and sounded so darn pitiful, his lower lip protruded just a bit and his eyes shimmered a little—poor kid, he’s really suffering—Lex started, growled at Clark.Oh no you don’t, I’m not that easy my young friend. You almost had me.
Clark apparently felt the mood shift, he was pouting now, in the non-cute, ‘I didn’t get what I wanted’ way. Screw you Clark.
Lex jammed a piece of buttered roll in his mouth and chewed angrily. Clark countered by gulping a huge mouthful of fruit and chewing violently. Emilio watched it all in interest and when the boys swallowed, spoke up. “Well, there are many things to do today.” He held up the package Marlene had sent with Lex. “It will be fun and educational and you shall have all the sun you want, Clark,” and he said his name like a caress and Clark looked like he’d just been smacked with a brick.
Lex narrowed his eyes at Clark. Was he remembering what he’d done last night…or was it just the fruit? It better be the fruit. Lex slammed his cup down on the table, slopping a little coffee onto the tiles.
“Oh, Lex, you forgot your underwear in my bed, I left them in your room.” Emilio sipped at his coffee and smiled the smile of the innocent. Clark slammed his glass on the table and milk fountained up and splashed the tabletop.
Lex turned stunned eyes on Emilio, and he had the nerve to smile sunnily.
“It will be fun! We’ll have a marvelous time. I’ll drive!”
TBC! Soon, I hope…*crosses fingers and toes*
eta:So sorry for the messing up your name,
dianehc! Forgive me! :(
