If I wanted to lock a post against one person, how would I do this? I ask you because I'm a techno-idiot. But ya'll knew that, yes?
ETA!! This has to do with a family member, not any of ya'll! LOL!!! Ya'll are so cute! *HUG*

3/19/06 03:41 am (UTC)Just in case you haven't...
3/18/06 11:59 pm (UTC)This creates a new filter and now you need to tell LJ who is in the filter. If you have a long list of friends, click on the first user name and then scroll down to the last user name Hold down the shift key, click on the last user name, and voila' you've highlighted everyone at once.
To move these people into the filter, press the ">>" keys. Now find the person you *don't* want on the filter, click on their user name and press the "<<" key. This one person should show as "not in group."
Unless we're talking about me, in which case, OMG how dare you1!!1! ^_^
Re: Just in case you haven't...
3/19/06 03:43 am (UTC)And no! it's not you! It's a family member, actually, and I just wanted to spare them unpleasant private thoughts of mine, is all.

3/19/06 12:00 am (UTC)If so, like Treetracer said, you have to make a filter (aka "group") that includes as many people (or everyone) apart from that person and save it. The public/private has something to do with what others can see of your list. I don't really understand it, so I keep all filters private.
Then when you post, the new friends filter / group should appear as a checkbox that pops up when you select "custom" in your post's security dropdown box.
Um... I suck at tech help. Hope you can figure out what you need. :)

3/19/06 03:33 am (UTC)Setting up filters is a PITA.
Plus now everyone's going to be watching for the filtered post and be upset when they don't see it.
Well, all right, *I'll* be upset when *I* don't see it. 8-D

3/19/06 03:53 am (UTC)Also, come on--if I don't know how to friends lock, how am I gonna do a poll? Sheesh--dummy here! *G*
(no subject)
3/19/06 04:21 am (UTC)Well, if you have a paid account, it is.
Which you do.
Just go to the Poll Creator. In this case, if you were to do this, choose "None" for "Who can view this poll?"
See? Easy!
