Could it feel too personal? I never wrote anything about sex before I started writing slash. And I found that I liked slash partly because of the challenge - it is hard to write sex from a male POV if you're a woman and a lesbian at that. But I also found it easier to do because I do consider sex a very private activity, and writing slash I don't draw on my own experience. Writing lesbian sex feels much more personal to me, and I'm less comfortable doing it (writing, that is).

Even het sex was a big hurdle for me, because it meant writing about what a woman was feeling. I felt like I'd be drawing on my own sexual experience, at least in part. I got over the reluctance to write about women and sex, because I felt the stories needed that, but I did find it hard at first. Could that be part of what's going on with you?

My niece and I were talking about it and she said pretty much the same thing you said.

I know that when I first started writing sex scenes I felt a little like I was walking around with the back of my skirt tucked in my undies. That's somewhat the same feeling I have writing het, only my blouse is unbuttoned too, and I'm at school.

Well, it all should be idealized or it would be kinda yuck. I think it's harder because you're not as separated from it as from guysex. so yeah--that reality thing keeps elbowing me.

That is sooo true! I have typed words for girlie bits (thank you!) and cut them over and over--*shudder*.
That's the big problem, how to describe bits without being offensive or medical.

Difficult question....I'm thinking talking about girl parts doesn't ever come out too sexy. But there's still that fine line when writing het sex. Things could blur into personal and fantasty real quick.
