roxySo, Mr. Roxy's brother was in real good shape for this visit. It was hard to keep him from doing too much, and they both worried that we weren't being entertained, but we Rose folk are easy. Their new home is really nice, and there were cranes wandering around and for us that was interesting. I have no idea if they're the Floridian equivalent of pigeons but I was impressed!
It was great to spend time with our boy. He's so sweet, and such a gentle, gentlemanly soul. It's heartwarming, the bond he and his wife have. She's so not sweet and he is and they compliment each other perfectly. I really like her, she's tough and no-nonsense, with a sly sense of humor that always makes me laugh. This illness is so tough on the both of them, juggling time-offs, doctor's visits, follow-ups...I can't imagine how hard it must be, but you'd never know it, not at any time when you talk to them. They are really strong people.
Mr. Roxy was upbeat the whole time, teasing him, joking around, until they left us at the airport, and then he cried a little, and that hurt my heart.
While we were down there, I had this strawberry shortcake that was so good, it was almost as good as sex. Really. Perfect strawberries, so sweet, so tasty...Jersey should be ashamed of those huge hunks of plaster the diners sell as shortcake! Blarg! Blasphemers!
