It truly was the worst thing I have ever seen in the realm of something that used to be so good. Such a complete and utter train wreck. There was not redeemable thing IMHO. It was laughably, vomit inducing, and just heart breakening, eye stabbingly bad.
I liked the way they made the Lex's scene with the doctor look like it came out of a horror movie. I liked the dream sequences. Lionel hitting Lex was weird and shocking. I really expect Lex to kill Lionel someday, and I think he's just trying to lure Lionel into a false sense of security by letting him get away with the back hand across Lex's face. I loved the final look between Lex and Clark--SO ex-lovers! It's nice to see Lex happy for a moment, even though I know this marriage is doomed as doomed can be.
The whole Clana stuff was kind of stupid, but then it always has been. It would have been much cooler if Lana wanted to leave Lex out of self-preservation instead of because she's still in love with Clark. The last look between Clark and Lana was just like every other fucking last look between Clark and Lana ever.
I'm very curious about the baby (in my head of think of it as the FREAK BABY--is that cruel of me?).
The episode did not make me want to kill myself like some have, so it was a pretty good ep.
Okay, good--I knew there had to be at least one redeeming minute in the show. I'm heartily sick of Lana, so sick of it that it's stupid. I hope to God DC doesn't ret-con this stupid Lana business into canon.
I spent much of it writhing on the floor in agony, but Lana's wedding dress was very nice and Clark proposing to his dog (and the dog being bored and going to sleep) was amusing. Um...there were these people running around who looked like Lex and Lionel and Clark, but they sure didn't act much like 'em.
ooooo..bestiality, there's an interesting direction! Oh wait, they've been going there for years, what with the Squirrel Of Inexplicable Sexual Appeal....
The MB is back and Lex still has NO idea how to be a TRUE villain, but give him time, mwahaha, he made his first honest-to-Zod kill today! Baby's growing up!
No, he killed a guy with a knife in Static. Granted, the guy was threatening him, but he probably could have gotten out of it without forcing a knife through his chest. And he enjoyed it, I think. His first honest-to-Zod kill that he didn't have to make?
I didn't hate it that much. I mean, the whole wedding--which for Lex, so far, still turning out better than the first two, what with nobody trying to kill him and not being under mind control--sucked, because whether you're a Clexer or a Clana fan, which is about 95% of the fandom, you don't get what you want. And Lana totally missed out on her one winning play, which was to tell Martha everything, because even as watered down as Martha's been with her senatorial Lionel goggles on, she would absolutely kill Lionel for messing with her little boy.
But, that said, I kind of liked the format. The whole unstuck in time thing with the wedding invitation themed silent movie cards worked for me. I liked the fact that Lex and Clark both had nightmares before the wedding. I liked the fact that the penny finally dropped for Lana (even though I don't really like Lana herself) instead of someone spelling it out for her. I liked the fact that they've finally picked a side on whether Lionel is evil or not, because until this episode, honestly, I didn't think any of the writers knew for sure. And while I didn't like it that Lana was playing Nell to Lionel's Snidely Whiplash, at least she did it with her eyes open, possibly even with the intent to protect Clark the same way he's protected her--by keeping him in the dark. And I liked the fact that they brought Nell back for the episode after maybe one mention in the last 5 years. :)
Yes, we're on an express elevator to Hell, and it's not going to end well for anyone (except maybe Ollie, seeing as he might be at minimum safe distance). People are going to get extremely dead, maybe worse. (For worse, see Adam Knight and Isobel Theroux.) Lex's office is wired for sound and picture, which doesn't bode well for Lana, and his nightmare about the baby doesn't bode well for anyone. If it weren't for the fact that I'm pretty sure DC won't let them do it, I'd say we were headed for an old fashioned "everyone dies" Hamlet-style ending.
Wow! You make it sound so interesting! Okay, there a few bits to recomend it, and dream sequences I love so much it almost amounts to a kink.... What make me so angry is that Lana could have been a great character--her descent into evil would have been so much more interesting than Lex's (at least the way the show set it up) but no--she has to remain Lana the Not Terribly Bad Person so Clark could love her. But it would have been great for her to slowly go evil, and for Clark to figure out some way to stay in love with her and justify or deny her evolness. Yeah *G*
I don't hate it as much as I did an hour ago, but geez the OOCness killed me. I would have been a lot happier if the writers remembered what happened at the beginning of the season and tried to make it make sense. Poor woobies, both Clark and Lex.
well I didn't want to watch it, but I did. Part of it. The end. And... both boys deserved far better than what they got, both of them. Lana so NOT worth any of it. If Kristin could have been herself -- I would rather have seen that because she's just so much more than the caricature that she is forced to portray. The whole slap thing was bizarre, but I secretly cheered when Lex wiped the line of blood away and there wasn't a mark. And his caving to Lionel's taunting? BUH?
It was written like really, REALLY bad fanfic. The lovely OFC with the amazing hair and wedding dress sacrifices all so that the hero can win. *rolls eyes*
It's like what my good buddy Mick Jagger sang, "you can't always get what you...you get what you need." Regardless of how it devastated me, which it did. It hurt me so much that I had to stand in the shower and just let the pain wash away. It was an excellent episode IMO. It gave me more insight into Lex's machinations. Still hurst like hell though.
I didn't like this episode at all, but I comfort myself by insisting that X-parrot and her sister Gnine are correct in their Lex-theory (you can read it here: http://xparrot.livejournal.com/49022.html), and that Lex is only pretending to be madly in love with Lana as a necessary part of his plan to save the world from Clark and Kryptonians like him. (And, further, that Lex allowed Lionel to hit him, and pretended to be cowed and easily defeated, as a further part of his plan.) Hence the seeming OOC behavior on Lex's part.
I read that, it's brilliant, and it's now part of how I view Lex. In fact, Birthright presents that as part of Lex's motivation. That and being fucking nuts, but that's besides the point.
It was *perfect*. I know my opinion holds about weight regarding SV as a parent talking about how gifted his child is, but it was a lot like Reckoning in how well it was crafted.
I liked it, but I like most all episodes. I think it really helps that I don't heartily ship anyone on the show itself. For awhile this season I really hated Lana, but I felt KK did a good job last night. If anyone's acting was off last night I felt it was MR. I burst out laughing when he and a certain character were in the "basement" of the church. Being very vague here so I don't spoil you too much.I did feel very sorry for Lex, getting set up for a hard fall
I know a lot of fans are purists and think Clark should be more of a moral character, but I love him flawed, and besides Tom makes me drool. I do wish they would get over the triangle bit, but I don't really foresee that happening. Regardless, I'm in for the long haul. I still love the show. i love most of the characters. As I told Herohunter, even when I hate the direction the show is taking, I LOVE to hate it. Sure, I think I like a lot of fan-fic authors take the story in a better direction, but I can follow the AlMiles route at the same time. Makes you enjoy the road not taken (fan-fic) more. I hope this is making a tad bit of sense. :)
It makes perfect sense! And never worry about spoiling me, I love being spoiled! That's why I'm checking everyone out before I watch the show. I hate the Lana relationship, but mostly these days because I don't care that much for KK as an actress, and she seldom sells me on anything. I did enjoy the beginning of the season when I thought she'd be Lady Machiavelli, but sadly, she just turned out to be loopy about Clark, and not nearly as interesting as Lex about it.
