5 plus one fics I wrote

I'll Fly Away: I love I'll Fly Away. I really do. It was a challenge to my self. I wanted to write a Pete fic, and I wanted to say something besides Pete can be hot if you give him a chance. I think I captured fairly well the feeling of the time, what it felt like to be a Black person in the 60s. I think I did a pretty good job of putting them in the time and still keeping them in character, especially Clark. I addressed too, a little bit, what it was to be gay then, in Clark and Lex's relationship. [livejournal.com profile] greysong once commented on a story of mine, reminding me not to fall into the trap of making Smallville MagicGayTown, where everyone is gay or totally cool about gay folks. Most of the time, poor Pete gets cast in the role of 'Not Having It guy, but in this fic he was the one dealing with life as a closeted gay man. For me, this story worked really well on a lot of levels, and it's the one I'm most proud of.

Come Tomorrow Will I be Older: I'm really, really fond of this story. I rarely write Clark as an alien—I usually write him as a guy who just happens to have these extra powers. In this story, Clark is definitely alien, with really different biological drives. I like that people had very different reactions to the story—from disgust to fascinated horror. I worried that it might be seen as a cheap shot, but I loved Clark in this story, and hopefully my love for the character came through. No matter that he does something pretty horrible, he's such an innocent in this fic that you can't hold it against him. That's my Clark. I think everyone has a particular way to write the characters, and I always write Clark as an innocent. No matter what he does, he's always an innocent character to me. I love Clark, and I think that shows in every story.

Deal: Deal was a total surprise to me. It was supposed to be a way different story than what it turned into, but I really enjoyed writing it. It's certainly more SF flavored than most of the things I've done. Lex took a beating in this story—so did Clark. It's a Marvel type of story more than a DC I think (probably because I was a real Marvel fan back in the day.) I think Lex becomes kind of an X-Man, that happens a lot. *g*. I was worried about this fic because it was so odd, but my loyal friends stuck right with me, and most seemed to like it.

Rake the Moon: This is the first 'serious' story I ever wrote, and a favorite because it's my first long story. I thought I'd never finish it—now I can’t seem to shut up! I really love Lex and Bruce in this; they're both entirely sympathetic characters. I think I managed to really put them into the story, into a specific time, and a specific place and that was hard for me at the time. This story was written strictly from fanon. I didn’t know much about Smallville at the time, I just knew I loved Lex and Bruce together. They were my original OTP, and if I thought about Clark at all, I saw him as an interloper. Rereading it, I can see a lot of the way I write Clark kind of beginning in this Bruce.

Firebird And the Grey Wolf: This is *my* personal favorite story. I spent most of the time crying as I wrote this. I've rarely suffered such an emotional storm as I did with this story, and I have no idea why it affected me as much as it did. Writing The Dog was depressing—but this thing almost killed me. Most of the time, I was calling on someone to hold my hand—I could hardly make it through this story. I still think it's one of the best stories I ever wrote. I think the characters Kirill and Alexei were terrible people but still sympathetic, as always, Kirill especially because I love Clark. I had the best time researching it—imagine my surprise that the players fit the story perfectly—Felix, Dmitri—it's like I made them up! Plus, as horrible as everyone was, I think the story was pretty well written.

Boys Of Summer:....No, this is my favorite shoooow…this gets honorable mention because it took me a million years to write, and I found out that you didn't get struck by lightning if you wrote OCs and that every once in a while, folks liked the OC almost better than the characters they signed on for. I learned a lot, I got a ton of help with it--thank you ladies you know who you are—and had fun with a typical Roxy ending disguised as the big happy finish. Did Lex break his dad's hold? Will he continue to be the guy Clark wants? It's up to the reader to decide. *grin*

Linx pls!

MagicGayTown is a little scary to me, but I kinda wish it weren't located in fantasyland. :/

Fun meme! Your Russian story is still my favorite.

I should do this one myself, only I can't think of five fics I've written that don't make me cringe now.

oh lovely! I think maybe three people read Rake The Moon. There's a soft spot in my head for it, and considering it was like my first long story, it's not too bad.

Funny thing is... I remember sitting on your memories page for a week a summer or two ago and reading all but one of your fiction. I'm reading "Deal" right now. And loving it.

I have to confess I've never read more than the ending for I'll Fly Away because I always peek in case I won't like the final pairing. That was before you made me like alternate pairings in CLex and I learned to live with bittersweet endings.

Now, I'm going to pick a time when I won't mind being torn apart a little and read it and I'll love it like I love all your stories and I just looked at the ending again and I'm sniffling but it's a better sniffle. *hug*

it *was* a sad ending, sad for Pete and sad for Clark and Lex really came across as an asshole and he wasn't even in the story. Boy, I wanted to choke the crap out of him. *grrr* It wasn't really his fault either. They were all just acting out of the way it was then. It's kind of hard to decide who to feel sorrier for here.

oy! I'll have to make my fics easier to get to. That story should be in the tags list, but knowing me...*G*
This is a very different Pete than the way I usually write him. I like the Pete of BOS the best. He was fun!

So very sad. Uhgg Lionel is a pig. I'm very happy that I stuck to reading this story. I usually stay away from a Bruce/one of my boys pairing if it's for the entire fic. I'm glad that Bruce and Lex have a happy ending.
