And now, it's completely Clex. all Clex, nothing but.Bye Bruce! Oh, you know he'll be back!I just can't let go!in the mean time let' read some fic, shall we?
Dance my little puppets! Dance!
It had been a really lovely day for Lex, almost completely relaxing except for that corner of his brain that refused to stop obsessing about Clark. There were quite a few strange moments, as his brain insisted on pasting Clark into every painting or sketch Bruce pointed out to him on their museum tour. He wondered if Clark would enjoy the food at the restaurant they went to. He thought about Clark as they strolled around a little park, thought about him as he enjoyed the smell of new mown grass and the slight caress of the early summer breeze. He closed his eyes for a minute as he inhaled and thought of the boy lying in the grass with him. He was so deep into a really delightful fantasy that he nearly squeaked when Bruce tapped him on the shoulder.
“ I think your vacation is over.” Bruce smiled.” It’s time to go home, right?”
Lex could feel his ears turning pink, ignored Bruce’s smirk as he agreed that, yes, it was time for him to return home, pressing business after all.
“We’ll get dinner first, yes, and then clean up the final details,” Bruce said as they made their way back to the car. He glanced at Lex, and seemed to consider, then spoke.
“You’re going to have to explain this plan of yours to him. You’re going to have to make him understand why it’s important.”
“God. He’s just as stubborn as the rest of his family. Besides, I thought you said he wouldn’t be able to detect your people.”
Bruce raised an eyebrow, grinned a little. “I said probably wouldn’t”
They slid into the car, and Bruce pulled out of parking. They were quiet for a while, and then Bruce began. “Lex….”
“Shut up. I know. I’ll tell him. I’ll make it work, ok?” He slouched down in the seat a bit and scowled. Bruce laughed. “You never change. Come on. It’ll be fine. You underestimate your power of persuasion. And try scowling when you talk to him--it's kind of cute."
It was a real struggle for Lex to maintain the scowl face; in the end the smile won out.
*********
Clark waited by the phone, paced up and down the kitchen till his mom swore he was wearing a path in the floor, and his dad spoke up.
“Clark, Lex said he’d call as soon as he got in. Lex is going to call. But in the mean time, go *do* something, you’re driving me and your mother crazy!” his dad complained.
“Jonathan!” his mom scolded, “ Don’t be so ….”
His dad looked a little irritated. “What? What did I say now?”
Clark could hear him grousing as he stepped out onto the porch. Suddenly he heard an engine in the distance, rumbling towards the farm, and for the first time in days, his heart felt lighter, and a real smile lit his face. Lex hadn’t called because he was coming in person. Clark didn’t even try to pretend that the warmth he felt curling it’s way through him was what one friend felt for another. One long night of letting the phone ring and ring had been a revelation to him. He liked Lex a *lot*and he liked him in ‘that’ way and he wasn’t going to keep it to himself
He could see the car coming over the slight rise now, and he knew he was grinning like an insane thing but he didn’t care. He was coming, and he was coming to see him first!

8/5/04 04:39 am (UTC)Boo for gay boys taking any and every opportunity or excuse to "get some"!! It would serve Lex right if he had to refuse Clark sex because he was still sore from Bruce's treatment .....
And I have lovely images of Bruces' hard bodied hired guns running around topless on the farm. Maybe Martha could pretend to be a gay boy and get some afternoon lovin' .... *smacks self* Oooooh I'm bad! Sorry! Sorry!

8/5/04 01:14 pm (UTC)"I'm done with cleaning out the stables, Mrs. Kent, and Mr. Kent's out with the other guys in the South 40. You have any jobs for me?"
Martha eyed the sweaty, shirtless man on the other side of the screen door, a fluttering low in her belly and dampness between her legs.
"Why yes, Randall, I do have a job for you ... come on in ..."
And this morning a stray thought crossed my mind, "Like potato chips, Martha can't have just one."
