And as promised, a bit of Alien, rough rough rough! This is going to require major grooming, oy!
Lex could see Clark standing in the drive, a big smile on his face. It made his heart skip a beat, and he was suddenly so very happy he’d decided to come instead of calling. Clark looked wonderful; he looked like he was waiting for him –Unh.And he’d been on a date with Lana the night he’d called him…right. * Friend*. Best friend. Don’t forget. Lex’s enthusiasm dimmed but only for a moment. Clark strode across the drive and pulled the car door open.
*****
“Lex! You’re here! How did your business go! I’m glad you’re back! Is everything-”He just managed to stop himself from saying ‘ is everything ok between us’, because, first, it might make Lex think he didn’t trust him, and also there was no ‘us’ to get between…and-- there was *something* on Lex’s neck.
As Lex started to slide out of the drivers side, his shirt pulled back slightly and Clark could see a bruise at the point where neck met shoulder-not a *bruise*, that’s a hicky! * Before he was completely aware of what he was doing, he’d trained his vision on Lex, through the shirt, to the line of *hickies! * that ran down his back, down to his - and he straightened and tried to look as happy as he had the moment before.
Lex stood and stretched a little and smoothed his shirt down before speaking to Clark. “Clark. I missed you. Everything ok?”
Clark stared into Lex’s face. “How about you Lex, everything ok with you? Did something happen on your trip? Did you, did things go the way you wanted them too?”
The young man looked so serious that Lex was concerned. What happened while he was gone? Lex looked him over. Something happened, that much was plain. There was something a little different about him, a change. Lana? God, did something finally happen there? Was this Clark’s way of getting Lex to ask? He shook his head in an effort to clear it of unwelcome thoughts, and smiled at Clark. “Nothing’s wrong, everything went fine, and I’m glad to be home.”
Clark moved closer to Lex. “Are you… we’re still friends, right?” he asked and pinched the cuff of Lex’s shirt between his fingers.
Lex felt his brain froze for a minute, until he realized what Clark was talking about. He was so relieved * a reprieve* that he laughed, much to Clark’s irritation. “Clark! Hell yeah, we’re friends!” He patted Clark’s shoulder “Better friends than before, ok?”
Clark grinned in relief and nearly whispered, “ Good. I was afraid that you might not want to be my friend any more, because of …”
Lex patted him on the shoulder, let his fingers linger for a few precious seconds before controlling himself.
“Always friend s Clark, don’t doubt it!”
