Are there any conventions aimed at fanfic writers/artists near the Fabulous Garden State of New Jersey?

I've only met Talitha, Fromward, and Arysteia (who was visiting T at the time). I had gangbusters fun with each of them and am incredibly glad I met them, but the idea of a room full of fangirls still seems overwhelming. I don't like the crowds. Eeek!

How close are you to NYC? There seem to be fannish meet ups fairly regularly there.
