1. Five bands/singers you loved.
2. Five songs you loved.
3. Five TV shows you watched.
4. Five movies you were obsessed with.
5. Five people you want to answer this, too.
Some of you will not understand my answers--think of it as a history lesson
1.Five bands/singers you loved.
David Bowie
The Beatles
Parliament/Funkadelic
Public Enemy
Big Pun
I picked bands that changed my life, silly as that sounds. This is the music that made my mind set change. The Beatles I loved because the music was brilliant and the boys were pretty. Bowie, because I found out there were a lot of people who thought like I did—glam rock was proto-slash for me.
Parliament because they were crazy as hell, wild mother fuckers who took me away from rock. Public Enemy because I realized rap could be about something and Flava Flav aside, they were smart as hell.
Big Pun--rough, but with a sly sense of humor, Some folks say Big, some swear by Tupac, but for me, Big Pun was the greatest. You want to hear? Pun--RIP, feb 7, 2000. Still miss you. Geez, the end of this vid still makes me get all snotty.
2.Five songs you loved
Okay, those of you who know this song are gonna laugh your ass off, but I loved The Air That I Breathe, by the Hollies. Those of you who don't know the song—thank God. In my defense, I was very young.
Satellite of Love by Lou Reed. One of those songs that gets in your head and *never* leave.
Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye. I don’t even have to explain this one.
Atlantis by The Isleys. Omgod, children, Yer Mother had the most unbelievably incredible sex with this in the background. You know how it's good but sometimes it's just too good? Like that. Every time I heard the song after, I'd smiiiiiile at Mr. Roxy. And he'd look at me like, 'hunh-- what?' Guys.
Whitney Houston (SHUT UP!) I Will Always Love You (shutupshutup!!!) look at this, all love songs. What the fuck is wrong with me??? *hangs head*
3. Five TV shows you watched.
Star Trek! Of course!
Mash—had to watch it, just had to!
X-files, I watched with Mr. R. It has meaning beyond just watching TV, and I love it for that as well as the great fun it was.
Buffy, oh Buffy! You saved my life *and* led me into fandom. I love you so!
AngelThe WB ripped my heart out of my chest. Fucking bastard WB. I'll never forgive it.
4. Five movies you were obsessed with.
The Horror of DraculaChristopher Lee. For more than twenty years, I was obsessed with that man, and this was the best Drac movie EVER!!!
Public Enemy was an old movie with James Cagney. Cagney as a gangster—man. He was rough!
To say I was obsessed with this movie is to say maybe Roxy is a leeeetle odd. I lovedRoad Warrior in a way that was totally unhealthy. All because of Wez, and if you don’t know who he is, I'm sad for you. I had pictures and buttons and anyone who'd stop for a moment I'd make listen to why Wez and his boyfriend were the real love story in that flick. (flick—heee!) You can imagine how folks avoided me. Ah Wez, Wez, how I loved you!
Raiders of The Lost Ark Harrison Ford. Saw this film one million times, me and my girlfriend. And every time, in the 'snake in the cockpit' scene, we'd scream "Crotch Shot!" Good times, good times. Harrison, call me finally—I sent you my digits. Over and over and over….
Blade Runner Sexy, hot Harrison. The scene when Roy Batty dies—in case you ever wondered why Rutger Hauer-- This is why
