mother's day

I signed up for a challenge but I can't remember what it was. Crapo.

Mother's Day was lovely! I hope it was for all the other mothers. I got a ridiculous amount of chocolate--all the gooood stuff too! I have the best children in the world! I got Doomsday and I got JL:New Frontier and I got a Batman lunchbox and the coolest stickers in the world, Bats and Supes. What's really sweet about it is I got the stickers from my cuz, who knows that they're a couple in my mind, but just rolls her eyes and goes along with it. Family. They have to love you. *g* Also, special days are the only days BG tolerates my affection for putting the superheroes and whatnot into clinches. She knows damn well what I'm thinking as I clutch my movie to my ample bosom--"I'm gonna watch this and then--make stories about the superhero assex! wooo-hooo!" I don't say that part out loud. The children are golden though. They made my day absolutely wonderful!

My sister also spent the weekend with us--some of you know the story there. The visit went very well! She was pretty lively and involved this time out, and she even played Scatagories with us for a bit--that was excellent. She kind of kicked my ass before she got too tired to play.

She's living in a new place now, a group home in north jersey. It's a hell of a hike to get to, but it's very pretty, and she now has a room big enough for more than one person at a time to stand in. We let her get away with some stuff but not too much. I had to draw the line when she asked me to pass her a biscuit that was right in front of her. I've mentioned before that the brain damage really affected her personality--she's like the bizarro version of my sis--the comic book one where everything is opposite to her former self. She's still very loving, and likes to joke around, thank goodness, and she still gives advice that's generally pretty good, strangely enough (she lost some of those social conventions we're all taught (like don't be rude to folks faces,*g*) The problem is, she won't do anything for herself at all if she can help it. Some of that is probably a product of the short term memory loss, and I suspect that she has a problem with muscle control and balance but no tests that they've done on her have shown that to be a problem—it's just my feeling. But, some of it is just sheer lack of desire to *do*. She'd much rather be waited on, and in her mind, I'm the one who does that for her. So, when she visits I have to get her going in the morning, get her to bathe and brush her teeth and stuff. This visit, she made her own bed! *And* put away her clothes and in general was pretty darn good! I draw the line at brushing hair-- I get BG to do it. And my niece, (her daughter) took care of everything for her one day, so that also was good, for the both of them. I think my sis is finally getting that her daughter is grown, and she can't treat her like a twelve year old anymore. We just have to remind her the child is a college graduate and out on her own.

Anyway, it was a good visit and neither one of us suffered the usual stress!

Mr. Roxy was also wonderful—I swear, that man is a saint—when he's not being a pain in my hindparts. I have to say, I *loved* my mother's day gift from him. *happysiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh* He's a sweetie!
