So, I've spent the evening composing witty, pithy comments to your fascinating and informative posts, much more interesting than my usual comments of "lol" and "goodness!". Mind you, I deleted them. I think I am the world's worst lurker. I do try to comment on the fic I read but...*hangs head* I'm not very good at doing that at folks LJs that aren't on my friends list. I mean, I *know* very few people will say, "who the fuck are you get out and never darken my door again", but I do kind of worry that they will.
I know, shut up, I'm a doofus.

You made me think about when I comment on a fic and when I don't... Definitely the length of the fic and if I know the author are two factors.

I also realized that since I moved to 99% commenting on LJ about fics versus sending emails, I send more feedback, but it's shorter and sloppier. I don't carefully craft my responses, even to a beautiful epic. Also, I used to try to throw in a bit of concrit--mention 5 thinks I liked and briefly hitting on one thing I thought could have been better/different. I don't do that at all on LJ, I think because it's not just to the author, but open for all to read... *ponders*

Before I had an LJ, I sent feedback by e-mail, and yeah, it tended to be much more detailed than what I send now. But, I was also mostly just reading fic, and not communicating with people beyond that.

Also, I used to try to throw in a bit of concrit~~~~ I think because it's not just to the author, but open for all to read

Yes, that makes sense.
There have been some rare occasions lately that I've commented in e-mail instead of posting because it was a sensitive or personal matter--and also a few occasions because I wanted to fawn horribly, and I guess I have some sort of mother complex. Y'know--don't show favoritism to one over the other? But you knew I was a doofus when you came in here. ;)
