Haaaaa! You asked for it--now I'm going to have to hug you!! *snorfle*
oh, and this:
"Let's run every morning, it'll be good exercise," Lex mimicked Dean. "Asshole," he panted as Dean laughed breathily behind him.
Lex pounded down the road, dust puffing up under his feet, the gray dawn slowly growing brighter, brighter--Dean pushed up to run next to him, panted, "let's head back before Sammy wakes up."
Lex nodded, not really enough breath to hold a conversation—the sun crested the rise, and he looked at Dean and…sunlight flared off his cheek, gold light turned his eyes an inhumanly bright green, turned his mouth into a swoop of deep rose…the freckles dashed across the bridge of his nose flared briefly copper, his lips parted and wet teeth gleamed….
Lex put on a last dash, reached for the last of what he had to pull away, away from Dean…he was uncomfortably hard, and ashamed, and scared…
"Wait, you dick," Dean gasped behind him, and even managed a little laugh.
Lex ran back to the motel, with Dean gasping insults at him all the way.
Now, I just have to fill in all the bits around it....
And -- ooooh -- lovely snippet! Lex and Dean, all sweaty and glowing in the early morning light, with Lex taken by surprise by everything he's suddenly feeling.... *very happy sigh*
You keep both those hands in good condition now! *hugs you back*
Lex was still desperately trying to scrub away the memory of their run when Dean’s voice sounded impatiently from just outside the shower. “Hey, how much longer you gonna be? I need to get cleaned up as bad as you do, and the hot water won’t last forever. 'Specially not in a third-rate joint like this.”
Lex winced and closed his eyes to the sudden image of Dean standing under the shower spray, water flowing over bare skin.... “I’ll be out in a minute!” He tried to convince himself that he hadn’t sounded panicked, that he hadn’t heard his own voice wobble and crack.

Hah! They snippet back--and pray for a story somewhere along the way.
@@@@@@ He was just stepping out of the shower and onto the thin rag pretending to be a bathmat when the door flew wide and Dean shouldered his way in.
"Hey! I told you I'd be out in a minute," Lex yelled, frantically stooping over and trying to cover the erection that wouldn't die, especially now that its object of interest had appeared.
"What? You don't have anything I haven’t seen before." Dean rolled his eyes. "Too many times, I might add."
Lex growled, still stooped and trying to hobble away and Dean grinned, "What's up, little brother—and I do mean lit—" he yanked the towel away, and stopped. "Oh. Oh…um." Blushing beet red, he handed Lex his towel back. "Sorry." Their shoulders brushed as Lex tried to ease past him out of the bathroom and Dean jumped. "Sorry Lex," he mumbled.
Lex didn’t say a word.
Sammy looked up when he walked out of the bathroom. He was on the room's pullout, watching TV and eating dry cereal. "Hey Lex. You okay? Or is Dean being a jerk again?"
Lex didn’t look up when he heard Dean emerge from the bathroom; his eyes stayed fixed on the gun he was stripping. His imagination was less easily controlled.
“Uh, Lex – ”
“Can we go swimming later, Dean? The lake should be warm enough by now.”
Lex breathed a tiny sigh of relief at the timely interruption. Thank god for little brothers. Then he processed Sammy’s question and swallowed hard. Swimming. In cutoffs. With Dean. A wet Dean, sunlight shimmering off him, eyes bright with laughter. Lex stifled a moan.
Can you picture Lex doing the things with Sam that Dean might not take to as naturally as hunting? I keep seeing Lex helping Sam with homework and telling him bedtime stories from all the history he'd learned (where Dean would be more likely to tell hunting stories, once Sam was old enough). Hmmmm....
okay, we need to get serious on this thing. I've got a little bit on how Lex came to be with them, but I'm not sure if I typed it up or if it's still in na note book. If I find it, I'll send it to you. :)
And I think that's the perfect role for Lex in Sam's life. I always see Sam as kind of hungry for knowledge and that would satisfy Lex's need to be needed. But Dean still should be the major force in Sam's life, in some way. Hey, doesn't this make Lex the middle child?
Oh, definitely Dean would always be first in Sam's life. It's just that Dean and Lex are different enough that I think they could fill different needs for Sam, with Dean teaching him weapons and fighting techniques while John is away, and Lex teaching more 'school-type' things. Of course, Dean would be helping John to teach Lex, too, at first, unless John didn't start teaching Dean until after Lex had joined them, which seems unlikely. And, yes, this makes Lex the middle child. Hmmm -- from only child to middle child in one soul-scarring day. (I can see Dean trying to talk Lex into doing his science homework or math homework or something he considers equally useless, and Lex finally giving in and muttering that he'll take care of it once Sam is in bed.)

7/29/08 10:40 am (UTC)"Ah, c'mon. You can do this stuff backwards and forwards, and it just gives me headaches."
Lex tried to seem stern in the face of that hopeful gaze. "If I do all your homework for you, you'll never learn anything."
"Lex. Geometry. When am I ever going to need geometry?"
That brought a baffled frown. "For shooting. For any kind of projectile weapon. Hell, for hustling pool, if nothing else."
"Pool?" Dean looked almost horrified. "You do equations in your head when we're playing pool?"
Lex blinked. "You don't?"
