Honestly? This is what I love about fandom and fanfic--getting pulled into something new and different and finding out you kind of like it. And now that I've had a chance to get to know Castiel, and see that he really does care for Dean, I don't find the pairing disturbing now. In the beginning, that instant sort of smash-up and reams of angelfic was ridiculous to me.
Speaks the woman who loves Clitney like there was ever any evidence of an even slight possibility of it. *G*
