Fic title: Apocalypse: Cancelled (B)
Author name: jeyhawk
Genre: RPS
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC17
Word count: ~28,000+
Summary: July 7, 2008 at 2 a.m. in the morning a comet will hit Earth, destroying all human life. Humanity gets 54 hours to prepare and chaos ensues. A chance encounter has straight architect Jared Padalecki saving the life of deeply closeted movie star Jensen Ackles. The unlikely couple cling to each other during what they think will be their last days on earth, but what happens to the relationship they built when the world doesn't end after all?
I liked this one—it had an interesting premise, the apocalypse that wasn't, and the repercussions of giving in to the moment. The relationship in the story had a nice build-up, and a believable roadblock to happiness. Ah, what the heck—I'm just a giant ball of mush when it comes to true love and the not so smooth road to it.

A Falling Summer (A+)
Jared/Chad
CWRPS
AU
NC17
Wordcount: 25,000+
Summary: Chad and Jared have been best friends, attached at the hip, for ten years. Everything changes the night of their junior prom when they make a stupid, drunken mistake. They leave a few days later to spend the summer at Jared's grandparents' farm, just like every year, but everything's changed and there's no going back. This is a high school AU, but mostly it's a story about best friends falling in love.
Holy shit friends—I never read Chad fics. Anything that features Chad as a main character I avoid because I look at his pinched little face on the screen and want to kick his fucking nuts up into his throat—but omg. I *loved* this, I swear. Nora—your fault. It was bittersweet, and just, wow. I *felt* summer in this story, late night swimming, and being so hot it's like a crime and ice-cream becomes a major food group and feeling like you're so in love you're going to die if you can't put your hand on the one you love…yeah. My only quibble is that it ended like pow—but you know me. Greedy.

Title: Neon Showman (A)
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: R
Word count: ~24,000
Warnings: Language, Chad, sexual references, more Chad
Disclaimer: Entirely fictional and in no way depicts the real lives of these people.
Summary: The love story of Jared and Jensen as observed by one Chad Michael Murray. While Jared experiences a journey of self-discovery in which he realizes he's gay, lands a role on Supernatural and falls for his new co-star, Chad names his penis, chairs the Eric Brady fanclub and develops an unhealthy fascination with fraternal incest.
And speaking of Chad—omg, I loved this Chad. He was laugh out loud funny throughout this story! The basic premise is not so brand new, but writing from Chad's incredibly amoral, tactless, and self-absorbed viewpoint makes it wonderful—and he comes out smelling like a rose. He's a pretty awesome friend in a real screwed up way. I kid you not, I honked out loud laughing at this story! Read it if you're needing a pick-me-up!

6/18/09 08:06 am (UTC)bring people over to the dark sideget people to expand their reading horizons. And speaking of which--there's a story that I mentioned in my most recent locked post that I didn't finish that I may still finish depending on what other people think about it, so I'm counting on your opinion!
(Oh, and I agree with you both about how summery the Chad/Jared story was--I could literally feel the heat and smell the air, and yeah, it needs a sequel or something because it ended abruptly) and Neon Showman, because that Chad voice was HILARIOUS.

6/18/09 03:43 pm (UTC)I hesitated to read the Jared/Chad one, even though the summary tempted, just because it's not J2, but you're reccing it, so now I have to add it to my reading list. What a hardship! ;-)
