We got power back this morning at 5:00 am after not having it since 5 last night!!!

*CRIES* we had to entertain OURSELVES! What kind of mad, mad world takes the internets away from me??? *sob*

I'm okay now...we found a way to entertain ourselves, but we had to wait until BG passed out...say, was I whining about her moving out? *roxy be rethinking that...*

Did good stuff happen while I was gone? I hope so--I'm ready to share some good stuff!

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] garryowen: the sequence of necessity is air, internet, water, sleep, food.

Glad you're back. Since you've been gone I've attended an AWESOME presentation here at WriterCon on writing fight scenes. It was by [livejournal.com profile] rm, a slip of a woman who practices sword- knife- and fist-fighting, along with a wide variety of other fighting arts. Plus she's an expert in Regency-era fighting and practices, so I got some good ideas for my boxing scenes, and it was basically worth the whole trip just to hear her.

OMG, I'm eating my liver with jealousy!! I'm sure it was fascinating--I love listening to people who are excited about what they know.

You'd have LOVED the session I just go out of: "Affect and the Individual Fan: Genre, Tropes and Repeition in Fan Fiction" by Katherine Busse, one of the luminaries of OTW.

She argues persuasively and etnertainingly for the joy and value of repeating story ideas, and for letting go of some expectation of "originality" in fanfic. I'll do it more justice in a post, but it was AWESOME!
