I haven't watched SV yet, I was all passed out. I'll watch it tomorrow. I did catch the end--hot stuff. ;)
SpN...well. That was unexpected. But satisfying. And personally, I'd have kicked his fucking ass some more. And then woke him up and kicked his ass some more. But I've kind of got a temper and a vindictive streak a mile wide. Loved the show, can't wait for what comes next.

10/30/10 03:34 am (UTC)Also, good news! This season is the first time Clark doesn't actively annoy me! Lois does good things for him.

10/30/10 04:12 am (UTC)Right? He still can't kiss a woman but other than that, I'm loving the hell out of those two!

10/30/10 03:42 am (UTC)Not that Sam doesn't deserve it, because oh but he does but in the long run it'll hurt Dean more then it will ever hurt Sam, you know?

10/30/10 04:10 am (UTC)I guess we'll just keep watching and waiting. (Not at all trying to harsh your squee, Roxy.)

10/30/10 04:19 am (UTC)Dean is pretty much a total mess. Everyone around him's made sure of that. I don't think knocking Sam out will be the camel's straw. Or maybe I should say, I hope it won't be.

10/30/10 05:27 am (UTC)Well, "enjoy" might not be the right word. But I was riveted to it. And tense. And really engaged.
It was good!

10/30/10 11:55 am (UTC)LOL! I get what you mean. But it's Sam anyway and now that the ass kicking quota is complete hopefully things will start getting actually 'better'. I know some people are feeling upset but I think Dean deserves a swing at his brother after all that's happened over the last 3 years. It was still a little unsettling though, just like last episode with Sam's 'evil smile'.

10/30/10 02:34 pm (UTC)Here's to those guys untangling the mess and getting back to being brothers and friends.

10/30/10 05:09 pm (UTC)Remember waaaaaaaaay back in season two when Dean and Sam were working that vegetarian vampires' nest, but didn't know it at first? And Dean decapitated that guy with the freakin' logging equipment? Or before that when he whaled on the Impala's trunk with the crowbar? Or last season when he and Sam were doing the separation thing and we got the montage, and there was LOTSA blood being splattered all over the Impala? My rambling point being Dean is not, in my experience, often shown just whaling on someone. . . unless there's a lot of shit going on inside his head. The same is completely true with Sam. When he repeatedly shot Jake in the graveyard after first being resurrected? And the now infamous Dean-smackdown of season four? Sam was violent and scary, and I for one was shocked. That was the point, though. We don't think of these guys from the outside perspective too often. Victor (oh, how I miss that man!) was an excellent storytelling device back in the day. His character served to remind us that, hey, you know these two guys you love, who are also really fuckin' awesome good guys? They're also badass and scary and extremely, extremely violent (when necessary). The Winchesters, especially John, had/have a reputation and they got it for a reason. We see non-scary Winchesters most of the time, because we as the audience have back story and flashbacks and introspection, but these guys aren't. . . flower children or Jimmy Novak pre-Cas. I tend to forget that, as I think we all do.
And that's why these moments when either of the guys is on-camera and beating stuff up really get to me. Add in the fact that, you know, it's not a baddie Sam was beating up in season four and it's not a baddie Dean just now punched the crap out of. . . but each other. We see Sam and Dean disagree, frequently, but they NEVER get violent with each other. Say what you will about John's lack of parenting skills, but in most respects that guy still managed to turn out two pretty (heh, *pretty*) decent guys. They don't solve their problem, or their hunts, with violence unless it's required. But Sam? He fucking unloaded on Dean back then, and I just think Dean unloaded on Sam here. It was startling and uncomfortable to watch, but if the show had handled it differently I don't that it would've been nearly as effective or as affecting. Dean's most definitely in a bad place, for him to physically lash out at Sam. We haven't seen that since season four when he found out Sam was using his powers and "working with" Ruby.
So, Jesus, I wrote a buttload, but my point is Dean's response here is not only understandable (thanks, Continuity!), but also necessarily startling. It should be. This is Dean hitting Sam. Sam. There's heaps of shit riding on this. I wanna be uncomfortable. And the truth is, when Dean hits Sam and Sam hits Dean. . . the hitter's the one feeling it (well, most of the time *wink*), more so than the one being hit.
But then again, this is Show and in the end it's not Sam OR Dean who ends up being smacked repeatedly in the face on a regular basis. . . it's US. And I'm. . . not at all uncomfortable with that. :)
P.S. What the hell? I just wrote a freakin' term paper here. You see how much I love you, Snuggles? *SMISHES*

10/31/10 08:04 pm (UTC)And there it is, the thing folks forget about all the time. These are guys whose successful day ends in something bleeding and/or dying. No one can tell me that they don't think in terms of violence sometimes as answer, especially Dean who sucked up every lesson that John taught him. John was a Marine. Military guys don't learn a lot of sharing and caring, 70s aside. They're always going to be more likely to punch each other than hug each other.
And the truth is, when Dean hits Sam and Sam hits Dean. . . the hitter's the one feeling it (well, most of the time *wink*), more so than the one being hit.
That too is a basic truth. Like I said, sharing and caring isn't a Winchester strong point. Even Sam, who seems to think that he's a sensitive kind of guy, isn't as much as he thinks he is. Or wanted to be. He tried really hard but being a Winchester really is kind of a curse. And lashing out at family is a way they have of expressing self-hatred or shame or doubt or hurt. (Maybe that's kind of a guy thing too)
Plus here we have the current situation. Dean's hardly likely to sit down and say, "Sam, I feel that once again you're choosing the supernatural as a way to deal with your lack of self-confidence and your 'father' issues with me." I can totally get that Dean's feeling betrayed and gosh, where would he get that feeling from? Oh yeah, the whole year Sam lied to him and fucked around with a demon. Mind you, Dean didn't really stretch himself to reconcile the next year and that was his fault. I think he'd pretty much trained himself not to interact with Sam at that point. And Sam did try as hard as he could to make up for what he'd done. I just don't think Sam really *knew* what he'd done to Dean.
Damn...this shit is hard when you're looking at it from the outside and loving them both. You can't really pick a side. *pout*

*cough*
:) Now with the make-up sex!!
*twirls you*
And and and - tell me, wth? Who's the little boy shaving his head in SV?? What? Huh?
*flails*

10/31/10 08:06 pm (UTC)The shaving head little boy is a rapidly aging clone of Lex Luthor, as far as I can make out. Or maybe he is a de-aged Lex...either way, I'm not keen on the idea because I can't have anyone else be Lex except Rosenbaum and he still hasn't commmited to it.
