Well, it wasn't what I'd thought, but it also wasn't wholly awful. I was thinking Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch, and instead we got the CW's version of Chronicle, a film I really liked. And there's a long history of Show and now-defunct Show ripping off movies, but this--I'm ambivalent. I like the outsider perspective on SamandDean (and, boy, did they call that one with the "office romance" and the Rizzoli and Isles lines), and I really liked the backwards format, where the end of what we see is just the beginning of another case for the guys (and having the credits at the end was also neat).
And I for one wasn't shocked about Dean's decision at the end. It makes sense with his history. When the girl said she wanted to be a do-gooder lawyer I immediately guessed she'd turn "bad" in an echo of Sam. And Dean turning the music back on as he and Sam left the apartment really cemented that angle for me, that Dean was giving this girl the same benefit of the doubt as he'd given Sam, as he would have wanted some other hunter to give Sam--if things had played out differently all those years at Stanford.

But, that's just my take. I could be wrong.
