spnJ2 Big Bang 2013!
1/6/13 11:30 pmI had a pretty good experience with the BB last year, so I'm thinking that definitely I want to do it again this year. I've been kicking around ideas in my head for a long time. I've wanted to write another part to the Lodi series, picking up after Dean picks Sam up from Stanford. I've thought about writing about what Sam did when he wasn't with Dean in the Non Timebo Mala story, but that would be more difficult because it's a more solidly AU story than Lodi, and the readers might get lost without background...also, there's this feral Sam idea I have, writing a story about Sam and Dean with a somewhat similar premise as my Clex story, The Dog.
Last year, my entry was a J2 and this year, I'd really like to write Sam/Dean. At any rate, It's going to be arip my hair out whine endlessly on my LJ cry blood and tears and demand my friend's list take over writing while swearing never to do anything that stupid again fun kind of experience! And you get to watch me, dear my fortunate friends!

1/10/13 06:11 am (UTC)Man, you've got me drooling over the idea of feral Sam. DROOLING, ROXY! I am more than happy to fling ideas at you so you won't have to revisit old ones (I hate when I feel backed into that kind of writery corner. Dear Muse: That shit's not cool.). Omgomg, FERAL SAM. I wanted to do a feral Sam story a long time ago, but then I was like, "No, I won't," and so I didn't. And you... You could do it right, I think because people bungle that idea so fucking bad. Hint: Being feral isn't something you can cure overnight. Also, aspects linger for the rest of their lives. Omgomg. FERAL SAM.
Hello, you have made me a broken record. Why for do you do these things to me? :D

1/10/13 06:28 am (UTC)How do you feel about humans trained to fight monsters for fun? Not for their fun, of course. It's a turn the fic took while I was thinking about feral kids. As so frequently happens. :)

1/10/13 06:58 am (UTC)I don't feel bad about humans trained to fight monsters. I actually find it hella interesting, particularly (1) the psychology--and ultimate psychological "damage" it would cause and (2) the violence. I mean, they'd be little sociopaths (not to be confused with psychopaths). Anyway, point is: I love characters with screwy noggins and I love violence, so...
My thoughts from just that little bit are so: It seems like it'd be a gladiator-ish take on a human slave ring, more or less. Well, gladiators were slaves and prisoners... and people with debt... so it's pretty spot-on, really. If you get 'em young it's even more twisted with a Spartan flare, minus the honor and such. Of course, conversely speaking, if they were trained from the time they were Very Young then actually they probably would come to enjoy it--if they were really good at it and continued to win, which I am guessing they would. Basically--to me, o'course--it's taking Spartan child rearing tactics, gladiator pit matches and throwing monsters in for a good mix.
What the end result would likely end up being are kids who, when they're grown, are super soldiers. Which means a lack of conscience in the generalized scheme of things, trained/conditioned sadism (of the not-kinky variety) because they'd have to like killing/maiming/hurting after a fashion. It's like anything else: it gets easier with repetition, which in turn becomes not just routine, but enjoyable due to the psychological development phase in which they were taken. Then come full circle back to: sociopaths that are "created"; forged in blood and pain, if you will. In short (and keeping with the example): Spartans were not nice people, not when it came to soldiering and/or waging war. Oh and then there's the um... stuff... with the kids and older dudes as "mentors". Talk about some seriously sexually confused men in Sparta. Wowza. Could make good fic though, oh yes. I could go on--if you want me to--but I totally get it if you'd rather I just hush. I sort of spewed ALL THE THOUGHTS at you there.
I luff ya, so you can keep the chocolate. :D
