The saddest thing is that I wasn't even that upset because I hardly care anymore. I want to see Sam and Dean on my screen, but this other shit...so what?

I was more saddened by Dean breaking it off with Benny than I was over Sam deciding not to go back to Amelia. God, that storyline was so stupid! I mean, it could have been okay if there had been even a smidgen of chemistry between Sam and Amelia (or JAred and whatshername, or whatever), but I wasn't feeling it. Sam kept saying he loved her but neither of them was selling it. And I was hoping for a while that there was more to that whole thing like maybe Amelia was a demon or an angel or that Don was brought back to life by the angels to get Sam back into the game or whatever, but no...it's just a shitty little soap opera manipulation. I mean really, what was actually supposed to entice Sam back to Amelia? Some sordid affair? Her leaving her loving husband for Sam? Why? She doesn't even know what he does when he's not with her. I just couldn't wrap my head—and certainly not my heart—around any of it. And now it just feels like a huge waste of time, sort of "Whew...so that's finally over so we can get on with our lives." I mean, make up your mind, Show—either Sam wants a normal life and he's pissed that hunting keeps taking that away from him, or he's actually addicted to the adrenaline rush of hunting and he doesn't want to give that up to settle down. Do you really expect me to believe that the "mystery of Castiel" is THAT big of a deal to Sam? I don't.

oh wow--sorry to get back to you so late!

I confess, I feel like you do about the Sam/Amelia thing. I just don't get it, I was definitely hoping for more, I was ready to *love* it--I definitely hoping for a better resolution. I'm leery of the way they ended it anyway. I'm not sure if we were supposed to take away from that that Sam was a decent guy, stepping to the side so quickly when Don reappeared, not fighting at all but...I don't know, sleeping with her after having "given her up", not very noble. There's just too much going on in the background and while I bet this is hot stuff in the soaps, that's not what any of us signed on for.

Benny and Dean were by far the more interesting relationship, especially since Dean kept describing their thing more in relationship terms than in friendship terms. I get that it was supposed to read as "family" but...not so much. Probably due to Jensen's crazy onscreen chemistry with just about everyone.

*grins* Never too late to bitchtalk about Show!

I know. I kind of think that the blatant adultery was supposed to convince us of how hot for each other they really are, but they sure didn't sell me on it. And I know it's not because they can't show much sexiness onscreen because it's on the Teenybopper Network, because you and I are both old enough to remember smoking hot couples with incredible chemistry back when EVERY sex scene was a "fade to black before the goodies came out." You know?

On the other hand, the other stuff "going on in the background" might be what's making it seem less intense. We KNOW Sam's not going to stay with Amelia in the long run already so there's no real suspense there, but it's hard to see how they could have made it more poignant—made us CARE about that relationship—without detracting from everything going on with Castiel, Crowley and Kevin, not to mention Dean and Benny.

Hahaha...I hadn't even thought about that being the reason for me being more interested in Dean and Benny (and I don't even ship Dean/Benny), but it's true. Jensen is totally the little black dress.
