I was just telling Mr. R how privileged our generation has been to have grown up with so many genuine heroes. One died today. Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to so many of my generation, and hopefully to the young folks today.

I've been reading tributes and quotes all afternoon and crying my eyes out--not from sorrow, but from, I don't know, just the huge emotion of having lived on the same planet at the same time as this great man.
