So let me share my ego collapse in fic writing. Writing SV got me spoiled stupid--In the last few years,I always had a pretty decent response to my stories. In fact lately, I've had what for me, is a wild response when I post SV. It's kind of mind boggling and god knows I love it. :) SpN, on the other hand...I post, and it's pretty much Cricketville. Dusty streets filled with tumbleweed. It's pretty humbling, I'll say. And disappointing, sure. Doesn't mean I'll stop writing it, because I love the various stories of these guys. But yeah, there are a hell of a lot of good writers, steep competition (it's the fandom of pain, in many ways, heh).

anyhoo, a shiny new fandom is winking at me, making me blush and giggle. I'll certainly never write in it, like loads of other fandoms I enjoy, but reading will be tons of fun. I need John Cooper icons! *G*

There's a community in LJ, started by one of the people on my flist (and some of her friends) called spnwriterlounge. I mention it because they had a rant post a couple of weeks ago, and one of the biggest rants was how hard it was to break into the SpN fandom as a writer and how exclusive a club it can be. I'm sorry you're experiencing that yourself. I know you're braver than I am; I don't think I could keep writing if I got few or no responses to something I worked hard on. Unlike you my ego couldn't take it. So my hat's off to you for your perseverance. I hope some audience members get a clue and discover what an awesome talent you are.

Btw, I didn't notice last night, but I love your icon. I always knew that's what Lex was thinking of while he was trying to survive another boardmeeting or visit from his father.

Oh boy, do I know what you're saying, only it's in SGA. I post and I'm thrilled if I get more than six comments. I look at the authors posting 300 word stories and getting 4 pages, not just a few years ago but last week, and wonder what the hell I have to do to get somewhere in the fandom. *sigh* Like you I'm going to keep writing because I like the stories I see waiting to be written.

Of course, I've paid for that by losing SV fans so that when I do write something there... Oh well. That's not why we write, right? *hugs*

If you write some gen, I'll read it! *g* Actually, I have barely watched the show. Jensen reminds me of my ex, and it creeps me the fuck out. *is sad*

Go, Roxy, go! Woooooo!

*shakes booty*

I keep forgetting to come to DW and read! I know that the two short J2 pieces I've ever posted have met with mostly crickets, but I'm not much of a producer and have no following in any fandom. I've got this massive J2 AU nearly done, and I'm prepared to have it read by no more than three or four people.

I just have this idea that every single reader in the SPN fandom is also writing, and that the supply actually outstrips the demand. I can't read fic when I'm writing, and I've been writing this fucker since three months after I joined the fandom.

What is this new fandom of which you speak?

LOL! The little blue ducks? Or the yellow chicks?

I haven't heard of Southland. That's how tuned in I am. *looks it up* Now have! And I don't recognize any of the names in the cast. Does that mean I'm getting old?

The epic is almost ready.
