I have a confession to make. Please don't yell at me and tell me I'm a fool, I know it.

I can't watch Lex be that bad guy. I don't want to see it, it doesn't make me happy, I'm not all excited by EvilLex--I don't even really like it all that much in fic. I'll read an EvilLex fic, depending on the author because excellent writing makes even the most awful idea a pleasure to read. (in a hurty owie kind of way) but as we know, this is not the case in SV.

I want them to be friends forever, I want Lex to say, "Oh, no thanks, no evil, I'll have really good sex for a lifetime instead." I want Clark to look at him with almost as much amazement as he did in the beginning...(not as awed anymore, 'cause he knows Lex likes to eat crackers in the bed and shove the crumbs on Clark's side)

I know how the story is supposed to end, and I know I'm supposed to want it. But you know it's making me so sad that I can barely even write them anymore. Stupid, I know. I'm happy for the folks who can't wait, I kind of envy them. Exactaly what they want is going to happen, and it should happen.
I just don't want it to.

{hugs} I am 100 % in the camp of not wanting to watch Lex go evil. I know just how you feel and it's the main reason I can't watch the show now. I watch old episodes and get this longing pang in my gut. I want them to be friends forever. Good thing there's fan fiction.

I feel exactly the same way. I love Lex wrestling with his darkness. But it can't win. I get no pleasure in seeing him be all bad!ass... (unless he's split in two and there's a good Lex as well :) I mean, I don't mind it as long as it's temporary, but if that's the full character? That's not what Smallville is about to me, not what Lex is about. It's not the character I fell in love with. Of course, if I had come to the show with comic background, I would have seen the whole thing differently I'm sure, and I wouldn't be in such a pickle now.

So my cure is to write s5 clex where Lex isn't headed for certain evil, but that keeps up with the ambivalence and salvation that the show seemed to promise in the early years.

I have long since given up on watching Smallville. I don't mind Lex going evil.... For one thing, you know. Superman fan since birth, thanks to my father. SV, though... *shakes head* See, the problem for me is this.

Clark is never, ever ever... going to become Superman from where he was the last time I watched. He was a huge, judgmental asshole with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. And it's ALL HIS FAULT that Lex goes bad. =P 'cause. You know. Clark = UberAsshole instead of Clark = Helpful Superman Guy. *shrugs* yeah, so =D I'm biased.

The thing I love about SV is that, in this timeline/universe, we'll never get 100% Evil!Lex and Goodygoody!Clark. I don't see them becoming Comic-book! Clark and Lex.

There's always hope that someone will slap some sense into our boys :)

I separate my feelings about it in fic and in the show. If I'm to continue enjoying the show I feel like I have to embrace evil Lex (also, I do find Lex very sexy when he's being bad) but in fic, I want happy endings all the way. CLEX FOREVA!

Yeah, I hear ya. The only thing that keeps me going is that I've rationalized that Clark has a lot of growing up to do, and a lot to learn before he becomes Supes. And by the time he does, Lex will have become BigBad!Lex, but even so, deep down they will still always love each other. That paves the way for all those wonderful mending-the-rift future fics I love so much. :)

Oh! I understand completely. I'm not sure I could ever write an S5 (or even S4) and beyond canon based fic. Just...Lex can't be redeemed and it makes me sad. I think I'll going to stick to my own little AU world. I can ignore canon. *nods* Yep. *bg*

*pets* The only reason I like Evil!Lex is because MR looks like he's having quite the good time playing him. In my head, though, Clark and Lex are bestest friends forever (and they have lots of sex, making it totally the best friendship evar) and everything is fluffy clouds and puppies and kitties.

I think evil!Lex is kinda hot but yknow, the show kills me when they arent friends any more. Like in Mortal(?) with the fight where Clark is so angry and Lex hits him back, I can't watch that. I close my eyes everytime I see it. It's so sad, Roxy. So sad. *laments*

I find it very hard to believe that Lex could ever truly be evil, and I don't understand how people assume that he's automatically going to turn that way, just because it happened that way in the comics. The show hasn't shown me that. Lex is still my woobie.

I think we are on a similar, page. I stopped watching Smallville. A purely evil Lex is boring Lex. I liked it when he was struggling with his darkness, when he was morally ambiguous. That's why I started watching Smallville in the first place. I was fascinated by Lex's struggle.

Thank god for fanfic! All those wonderful stories. I don't know what I would do without them

I have a healthy dose of denial about me, so I can try to wank it that everything will work out for the two boys. But Lex’s journey into the darkside brings me no joy. It hurts so much.

I totally prefer evil!Lex at this point. I guess it's because I don't like Clark anymore and think he deserves Lex's wrath. I'm tired of Lex getting beaten down at every turn(by everyone, not just Clark) and not taking action. I also think Lex would look kind of stupid at this point if he didn't start kicking ass. Plus, Michael is just so hot playing naughty! Of course this is just my opinion, so hopefully no one will eat my face off for saying this:)

I'm all about angry rifty Clex. The kind where they can't live with each other but they can't live without each other either. They fight and fuck each other's brains out. Angry at themselves for not being able to let go. I loved that kind of fic even when the boys were happy and shiny on the show.

I live in denial. I close my eyes in the sad parts and I don't like Clark in Smallville much. But you know, the wonder of fanfiction is that you can make anything happen and it will be as real as Smallville is. That's the magic. You can write anything and make it a new world, a world that is real in magicland. You have the power in your hands... you want to change the way things go? Do it! I would love to read it! :D

I hear you sister!!! I adore Clark and I love this Lex, and hate to see him turn evil. I am beginning to dislike the way he is being protrayed now..but as you say..that is the story line.

It is a pity that the writers didn't decide to write us a Superman and Lex Luthor who were both good, and who saved the world together as they balanced each other. A "What If Lex Luthor was also a Hero". A plot that show us that love and trust, that someone believe in you, could influence someone enough to turn them from a dark path.

We have to live with what we have, but we are lucky as we have talented writers such as yourself to give us different, more enjoyable and loving, if sometimes angsty, endings.

Looking forward to a little Clex loving from you.

If it's any consolation, at least one recent comic book* take on Lex had him doing morally questionable things often with morally questionable people for what he truly believes are the right reasons.

He was very convincing, even when he was at his most horrible. Of course, he and Clark aren't friends - in Lex's view, Clark is an alien/monster. Oops. I'm not helping, am I?

How 'bout Smallville's fodder for AU and future fic? Kissing boo-boos makes them better. :)
