Sometimes when you read a happy slash fic with babies and fuzzy teddies thrown in, you just want to write a story beating the hell out of the characters. Especially if there is sobbing involved. Or is that just me?
While I have to admit I've never had that feeling (No? Really?!?), I can see where it comes from. Particularly with particularly sweet and syrupy stuff ("Lex! Little Gaius just threw up! Isn't that adorable!").
My own problem is with "Clark and Lex get a cute and preternaturally intelligent pet ___" stories.
I don't write, but I sometimes want to run out and find a story to read like that though. Hmmm... usually, I don't have to go any furhter than your stories. lol For both. ;)
So..... does this mean someones getting tortured in the net chapter of Mariposa? *grins*
given that i'm a genuine pollyanna, i still have a limited tolerance for schmoop. i wonder what you've been reading that prompted this post. hmmmm. *pretends to ponder*
OMG! SpN! With the hanging off each others shoulders and the crying, great big sobs and vows of eternal love--BLERG!! I had no idea that's where all the twelve year olds went....
I have to confess, a few of my stories spring from, "and what if Clark was raised by abusive sociopaths, or what if Lex's obvious daddy issues sprang from something more horrible than SV can show us?" and every once in a while, there is no light at the end.
I probably should have edited that to read,"badly-written happy slash fic," since I can write pretty darn happy fic, sometimes! :)
Ordinarily I would disagree vehemently with your statement -- I'm all about the happy endings, doggonit! But I ran across a string of mindbogglingly bad stories this weekend that fit your definition, and now I'm all "Nuke 'em from orbit! It's the only way to be sure!"

Feeling reactionary? *grin*
Sorry, couldn't resist poking a stick in the cage. I'm evil like that when I have insomnia. :-D

If it's meant to be amusing, okay, but if it's meant to be a serious look at their lives with the thing, just no. N. O.
