a question. Which do you prefer, a short update--something around a thousand words or so--or a longer one, say more than two thousand? Does it depend on the subject matter? Just wondering. I noticed lately that my updates are getting longer and longer.
Me, I like a nice long update.

This icon is still, in my opinion, the best Clex short story ever. *G*

Yeah, long or short is fine with me. Frequent is better than not, I think.

frequent is good--is it me, or does there seem to be a trend lately of long waits between updates?

Well, it is summertime. Though I am pretty selective these days about whose WIPs I will read--basically just you and [livejournal.com profile] romanyg and [livejournal.com profile] bagheera_san; everybody else I'm waiting for the completed story before I start.

And you are remarkably regular in your updates, from the perspective of a reader--regardless of what you think from the writer's perspective. :D

Hot damn, I'm in amazing company! Speaking of updates--it's too long between <lj user="romanyg"'s updates. Or maybe I'm just greedy. *g*

The icon is genius! lol. I grin every time I see it. As far as updates, I'm always just happy to get something new. lol. I think it depends on the story, too. If something is being written in a big, epic, emotionally upheaving kind of way, longer updates are nice. But, then again, shorter updates can be really great, too, and they can be wonderful for building anticipation. I don't know. *shrugs and hides in corner* lol. I'm just excited to get new stuff to read.

I hear you--I never mind if they're short and exciting!

I'm just excited to get new stuff to read.
I'm right there!

I haven't read/written/been fannish in ages, but you asked, so...

I prefer medium to longer updates, but if one is going to post a short update, something significant/plot and/or character development should have occurred in the update. YMMV, of course.

Oooo! I used to do that, and post a million bitty little updates--it makes you look so productive. Until people start to wonder if you're some kind of asshole, ah-ha!

And I owe a certain little cutie-cakes comments...what? The job is killing brain-cells.

I have to say, when ever you do update, it moves the fic along by leaps and bounds and we're always in a brand new place at the end of each update, so I don't mind the wait...too much. *G*

your icon - totally is the best Clex short story ever. *g*

Also, long updates are good, but sometimes it's hard to read them when I'm way behind and trying to catch up on the flist.

ok, see, for example - I thought you meant update as in update on stuff that's non-fannish, like a regular journal entry with no story.

Uh. Clearly, I'm way behind on my flist today.

If you mean update as in story update - honey, I'll take whatever I can get!

[personal profile] beetlong updates are good, but sometimes it's hard to read them when I'm way behind and trying to catch up on the flist

There is that too. I sometimes find myself skimming, and I have to go back and read again. When I do that, I'll set the fic aside until I'm ready to devote time to it. But that doesn't happen too often when I'm reading preverted RPS with a real cutsie name...*koffkoff*

Oh, yeah.... updates...
