this icon is just for the cuteness

Am I boring? I'm afraid I'm boring. I've been driving Mr. insane, worrying that I've become less attractive in my old age. Sort of wattley and flabby and droopy. He insists that I'm still cute but what does he know? Everywhere I go, guys from eighteen to forty are like, excuse me ma'am, do you need help crossing the street, lifting your purse, crawling off that curb--what the fuck ever--I am, to paraphrase Eliot Weston, invisible to teenage boys.
SIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH.
Why am I waiting until 53 to freak about turning 50?
In much much happier and fandom related biz--
wednesday100 had a great turnout for the Cinderella prompt! Go read them, there are some tasty little truffles to be had!

8/25/07 05:25 pm (UTC)I think a lot of it is psychological. But on days when my legs hurt and it's hard for me to walk, I do feel old. And I probably act old too.
Old broads unite! *hugs*

8/25/07 06:11 pm (UTC)Secondly, you are much more than just your appearance. If I have learned anything from having to dump a guy who thought I was fat, it is that no matter what you look like, you will not only find a man somewhere who very much likes how you look, but will even love you for who you are.
Thirdly, don't underestimate the value of getting ignored by horny teenagers and twenty-somethings. The way guys try to roll up on women these days quite frankly makes me wish I was at all attracted to women so I could switch teams. Young men (and this is a generalization) have no sense of tact, smoothness, romanticism, or even basic respect.

8/25/07 06:46 pm (UTC)As for the guys helping you, it's because they're trying to feel up all on you! Guy move #32.

8/25/07 09:22 pm (UTC)I think you're cute as a bug, honey.
And fuck teen-age boys. They're so annoying. And smelly. Let 'em be all over each other - i'd rather watch.
:)

8/26/07 05:00 am (UTC)I know you're cute and hot. Mr Roxy is a smart man, and he's got great taste. Don't try to make him a liar.
I've been invisible to teenage boys most of my life, even when I was a teenager.
((((hugs)))) you hard!

8/26/07 06:06 am (UTC)I have no advice - I mean, what words of wisdom could I offer anyone? LOL I just thought it was interesting that your post echoed her thoughts almost exactly. I don't want her poking into LJ (not because she'd be weirded out over the gay porn or anything, just because she would totally take over the joint and I'd have to run away...) but I did tell her that I'd read someone's blog entry about the same thing, so at least she's not alone.
I hope I look half as good as you both when I'm your age! And I hope I'm even a fraction as feisty and cool as you both!

8/27/07 04:13 pm (UTC)I should remind you that you're the person that makes me not afraid of old age. You're the person that made me realize I don't have to wear beige and watch HGTV for seven hours a day as I fold my family's underwear. You're yourself, not a 50-something year old woman, you know? You're going to be that way for the rest of your life. You're Roxy, fer cryin' out loud.
Besides, the young guys may not notice you cause you're older, but hell, you're probably having better sex than all of them combined, anyway, so what's it matter? (that's the line I use to comfort myself when my roommates get hit on instead of me. it works because it's so true)
Anyway, hope that helps. I'm taking an early lunch now...even though I just got done a late breakfast...office livin' is gonna be hard on me, as you can see...
