I have 367 mutual friends. Most of these folks, I have no idea who they are, don't know if they've ever commented here, have no idea why they're here. Not that the no commenting bothers me, I'm terrible for that myself. Anyway, it's just a lot of folks. I think it's making me feel kind of nervous in a way. Like I have to be extra interesting. :) And speaking of that--oy! It *has* been boring around here lately! It's all whine whine here and boo-hoo there, with a smidge of story thrown in...*sigh* I guess it will take me a while to get used to not having my child here. It's not like this is the first time--she moved out to go to school and then moved back home...but her room is empty. Cleared out. So I walk past her door and don't look at it. Aaah, time will fix that. It's only been a week so I really shouldn't be so embarrassed about moping, but it is kind of embarrassing to be this drippy about it and people at work are making fun of me. Nice to know who's got your back...*g*

As far as wrting goes, I had some problems with a change of tone in East that didn't fit, so I'm working on that, geez, it seems like one word at a time. I should have been suspicious when suddenly it was just writing itself. Un-hunh. *eyeballs story*. It was weird, I didn't even notice until I began checking for typos. Does this ever happen to anyone else? It's almost like automatic writing (is that what it's called?).

I don't how you keep track with 367 friends. I have around 40 and I still want to defriend a few, because I never talk to them...

Another pretty rose icon! Awesome. I can't choose which one I like best really.

It's impossible, really. Most folks never say anything, so that's not bad. I must admit, it takes me longer and longer to read the day's posts when I get home. I feel horribly guilty defriending. I usually only defriend folks who have left LJ or who make it plain that whatever reason I friended them for no longer exists. I almost always keep folks who stopped writing SV or fanfic in general because most of them still have lots of interesting things to say--just about different things.

Another pretty rose icon!Thank you! The one I'm using now is a favorite of mine, Hero made it.

eta: and oops--I meant to use this one! *G*

I feel guilty defriending people too, so sometimes I'm relieved when certain people defriend me first. Hero did a defriending poll, but I don't if that works: if people stoppped reading said journal, will they bother answering the poll? *shrugs*

I remember seeing that icon, but I didn't know Hero made it. It's really beautiful.

Yes, occasionally it does. I'll start writing and then suddenly it's a couple of hours later and I've got a bunch of pages written that I don't really consciously recall planning and getting down on paper. As a rule, those tend to be the best stuff I write.

Right about now I could use some automatic writing. *frown*

yes, it's hard when they move out. my son moved out to school, then moved back in, then moved out again. now he's in seattle. i miss him so much, and with ted fixin' to move to the dorm in about 6 weeks, it may be basket-case time in the fall. i love to mother people. :/

my writing is almost all automatic. by which i mean, if it's hard to do, i don't do it. lazy, shiftless me. my nano projects are never edited. i just blurt them out, and the smaller pieces i do are always on impulse. so i salute you for soldiering on when you're not feeling the mojo! (i hope you let us read most of the automatic stuff that was easy.)

I'm going to reshape that stuff a bit and use it in the Whit/Jason& Clark story--the tone suits that fic pretty good. I've thrown my hands up and let go of the funny story it was supposed to be, hah! Besides, isn't it time for another angst fest here anyway? *G*

Yeah, I've been reading about you and your sons and keeping kind of mum, because I am not the one you want commenting right now, lol! I don't think you need a response made mostly of whine and woe is me. Lately you and I are kind of joined at the hip, mentally. *G*

On the writing thing, I had about three new chapters of Teenage written, right? And after I'd finished, I was all stoked. I'm like, "This is great stuff here, Arielle! They're gonna love this!" So what's the problem? I go back to revise these three wonderful chapters and find out that they're all written in the present tense. Now, I never write in the present tense, never. Nothing I've posted on Lj or even during my 4 years of college was ever in the present tense. Where the heck did these chapters come from? And, I mean, these were really good chapters, too! So, I end up having to comb through every sentence in search of typos and mistakes, and it. . . kinda ruined them, these brilliant new sections.

So what does this have to do with you? Well, it's just meant to say I'm so totally there with you, roxy! *shuffles feet*

You are never boring.

Sometimes when I'm writing I get a few paragraphs in one direction and then I'm like "Where the hell do I think I'm going with this? 'Cause it's nowhere..."

But I don't usually do super long, involved stories like you do, so it's a little different.

I guess maybe I work a bit differently than a lot of people do.. I don't outline.

Well, not really. I have a general idea of where I'm going, at least I always know how the story is going to end, but when my muse takes me into areas I hadn't planned on it usually works out.

And I say usually, because sometimes it doesn't... it's that one Superman/Batman that has gotten completely out of control that I am not sure now if I am ever going to finish it. I've restarted it again for like the fifth time and it's still got a mind of its own.

*pouts*

I'm going to work on something different (something happier) for the next few days and see how that goes...

I wish I had advice to give for your daughter finally leaving...

My kids are younger, only 15 and 13, but that day is coming. I don't know what I'll do when they both finally leave...

*HUGS*

I love outlines--I have two or three for each story, lol! It's terrible when you come down to the wire and realize the end you planned isn't going to work but you have nothing to replace it--hello Transference....I swear, that one bugs me more that any other. But I took almost a year I think, to finish Dis Pater, so I hope it's coming some day.

I always think writing Superman/Batman has to be so hard. It's such a different fandom, with so many conflicting versions of the same characters--or so it seems to me. You've got all those different comic versions, and on top of that you have the movie canon--wow. How does that work?

(no subject)

7/6/08 05:14 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] dm-wyatt.livejournal.com
Oh, that part of it is hard.

I had tried to sorta have it be a Smallville/Batman Begins crossover, then they were having a challenge based on the Superman/Batman annual #2 where Clark loses his powers and trains with Bruce so he can still help Metropolis.

Bruce is a bit hard on Clark. I reread that and I thought maybe I should base the story on that version of clark and bruce, it helped some, but still it's not going anwhere. So I'm coming back home to Smallville and working on a few Clex that I've got.

A happier future-fic than Strange and Beautiful and the next update for Superman for Sale.

Maybe if I give it some time, it'll still work out.

Man, if you were living here, you'd be screaming, "leave me alone, I don't *want* to hear about your crummy story anymore!!" Mr. Roxy would have to protect you. :)

Oh-ho!! Stop cursing me!! But finally I think I have the Clex bit done--maybe you can tell me if it's right or not?

It's been a long time since anything was the automatic writing type of thing for me. Normally, I love it when it happens. It means that the characters have finally gelled and found their voices and they know what to do.
