I was picturing Sam and Dean on the trail of something evil and clearly nonhuman which can nonetheless be fought with strength and speed and maybe a certain kind of knife, and 'Lindsey' (can't remember their new names yet, either) turns up in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets attacked by the creature and caught up in the fight -- a fight that he'd have lost without Sam and Dean's help, but which Sam and Dean might have lost without Lindsey's help, as well. So Lindsey asks Sam and Dean a lot of questions about what it was that nearly killed them, and they give him some honest answers, and they all wind up on a friendly basis...and then 'Jake' shows up looking for Lindsey, and Sam and Dean try to kill him, and Lindsey protects Jake, but without really hurting Sam and Dean, who don't want to hurt him, either, and a whole lot of initially angry discussion takes place. And then there's sex. Or maybe not. *eg*

That's OK--Jake did nothing for me, so I hate him forever, but I thought Bella was hot, so I forgave her.

(The actor, though, I think is HOTNESS, especially when playing a computer geek. What can I say, I have a thing for geeks. I can't explain why I didn't find him attractive as Jake and do in Leverage. Kind of like JA did nothing for me in SV--Coach Jason was too bland--but I totally fell for him as Dean. I still don't really like Jason, though.)

I can see I'm going to love Leverage, though--so far I'm loving everyone in the main cast, and the premiere was damn fun.

I really liked him as Jake and was *so* disappointed that he went bad. I thought they were a good team. I swear, everyone Sam likes dies. *pouts*

I didn't hate Bella coz she shot Sam. I hated Bella because she made the boys stupid and she was annoying. If you change your hate!Bella reasons to that, then you can say you're not shallow. ;)

I loved the show. I loved the line about 20 pounds of crazy in a 5 pound sack. That almost tops my favorite "Buckets of crazy." ;)

I must be one of twelve SPN fans who don't hate Bela. I thought she was okay, really--they did a little more with her character and then kind of dropped her, but the woman playing did a good job with a tricky situation.

I agree that Jake was very likeable and strangely sympathetic, given the evilness of his deeds. And handsome.

I'm glad not everyone hated her, I know she had a thankless task on the show. I might have cared more about her if I knew there was a real reason for her to be a Sam shooting bitch.

I think too, that I really, really wanted the guys to have a friend who understood. I knew it wasn't going to happen with Jake, but it'd have been nice if they had someone they could turn too, besides Bobby, who's more of a father figure. And nowhere near as handsome as Jake. Nor possessed of a sexy voice.

As I venture into the world of writing SPN fic (well, okay, J2 AU, but in many ways same difference), the problem of who the hell the boys talk to when they aren't talking to each other becomes very real. Makes me admire the actual writers of actual Show (not to mention the actors) for keeping a story going with what generally amounts to a two-man dialog.

Which is my long way of saying, yeah, they could use a sympathetic friend with more hotness than Bobby--but of course, their extreme insularity is a big part of the plot.

The two SpNs I wrote before made me feel kind of claustrophobic, shut up with just the two of them. It's *very* different from writing SV, where there are other folks to take the weight off. Which kind of explains why I'm having a hard time with this story....

Yeah, the boys have each other, the car, the motel room, the open road. Lots of good porn possibilities, of course, but claustrophobic is a good word for it. Me, I cut my teeth on nine-regular-cast-members Firefly, for heaven's sake, and the trick there was letting everyone have a chance to play!

I find myself creating OCs. Which...proceed with caution, right? I've got two novels going right now, and the one that has, shall we say, a historical AU setting? You would not BELIEVE who has crept in as kind of a RP AU character! OMG Joss freakin' Whedon.

I'm totally with you on forgiving Jake and still hating Bella... I pretty much loved Jake right up until he killed Sammy, but I hated Bella from the moment she showed up flirting with Sam in her black wig--the shooting was just validation.
