say...does anyone else worry about changing icons, thus making them terribly inappropriate for comments you've made previously? Say, when someone's upset, and your previous default icon was sufficiently somber, and then suddenly, it changes to "fukmealienkryptonboy" or is that just me?
I'm kind of weird tonight, aren't I? I love Saturday's--most everyone is busy so they miss you being wildly stupid all over the interwebnetthingy. Also, i never drink so tasting everyone's wine was probably not a great idea.

OMG FERD!! I was *JUST* now reading your post about that!! What!! How could someone be so rude and thoughtless!! Even when I was a newbie i kind of figured there had to be some kind of etiquette involved! I made my own crappy icons until I figured it out! That's not right--I hAve icons I can never use because I snagged them somewherE aND forgot to add who made it. If I don't know, I don't want to use it--and guess what!!! *giggles* Actually yes I have had that problem. Which is why I learned never to post with my default icon unless LJ forces me to. That's also why I didn't have specific names on my icons. Then I couldn't remember what icons were which and decided that if someone freaks out over suddenly inappropriate icons, they're weird. o.O

Lol. It's not just you. I try really hard to remember to use my actual icon names instead of default ones when I'm commenting on a sad post. I'm sure I've screwed that up somewhere, though.

Up until about three months ago, I didn't even know you could use a different icon for each comment. herohunter pointed it out to me. I was always changing my default icon to try and match each post. *facepalm*

Now I want an icon that says fuckmeailenkryptonboy. :D

Preferably with Lex being the one saying it!

I'm still incredibly leery of using others' icons (only have one that someone else, ladydreamer, did that I use), so I just make my own shoddy ones. *blushes*

I was afraid to use other's icon's for a long time, but i got gifted some great icons--and after a while I noticed icon LJs and the temptation got to be too much-and besides the icons I made myself were none too exciting. ;)

Yes, I think about the icon-changing thing quite a bit. Especially since commenting on someone's icon is a fairly common occurrence on LJ. Do you HAVE an icon that says "fuckmealiencryptonboy?"

I don't use icons. I find them terribly annoying at the best of times, and so I don't really notice if they're specially inappropriate under one circumstance or another. Sorry.

They're so widespread in LJ that I feel undressed if I don't have one. I find them so fascinating--I'm always interested to see what folks do with a screencap, or manip. Some of them are really beautiful, or really funny, or just perfect to express my mood. I think of them as the visual equivalent of the way I talk.

I too am worried about using my default icon in some comments and then changing it, thus making it inappropriate, so no, of course you are not alone! I now try to use icons that really fit the mood of the comments (though I still sometimes forget and even have to go back and change them!)

i've made lots of my own icons, but nothing as beautiful as your flaming heart. you have seen a picture of my tattoo, right? hmmm.

i have icons on my hd that i have marked "do not use" because i'm just keeping them to look at, not having permission to use them. when someone posts them and says "HERE TAKE SOME ICONS!" then whoopee, i do!
