I wrote myself into a corner. I don't know how to go forward. It's sapping my enthusiasm for writing in general, and that makes me unhappy because I love my baby and I want to finish it. Imagine the saddest, unhappiest face in all the world, and then triple that. Yeah, that's me. And on top of this big suck sundae, there's a horrible whaaaa-life-sucks sauce. I'm leaving for the weekend with the Couples, the people we get together with once a month and go to dinner with and then play, like, Uno and stuff with...oh shut the fuck up. This is what you do when you're crazy in love with someone who wants to have some kind of a social life. Why can't we just hook up with wrinkly old swingers like normal bored old people do?

Yes, here's what I'm going to do. I'm not writing fanfic anymore. Instead, I will write about my life. That's right, it'll be all about me. More all about me. Like, 99% about me. My life, ripped from the headlines, as it were. And if nothing interesting happens, I'll just lie. No, wait, I mean make something up. No, I think I mean embellish. Embroider. Nah, lie's the word.

While I wait for you to dry your tears and hush your heart-broken sobbing, let me share some good news. Mr. R bought a new (new-ish) car! Huzzah! His car, the hardest working Subaru in car biz, has finally dropped to the curb and given up the ghost. Ten years old, and it gave its all. Ach, Slave!Car, we'll sort of miss you but not too much--you kind of smelled like old tuna fish and machine oil and your AC only functioned if the temp was under 75. I could turn the wheel easily back in my forties but lately...not so much. You taught me that power steering was not just for pussies. Goodbye, God speed, and we know you won't be clogging up any landfills; you're 90% rust right now.

So, in conclusion, car—yay! No fic—boo! No fic bloody likely in the near future without heavenly intervention, big boo.

Big BOO indeed, hon. :( times 1,000.

But congrats on the new(ish) car. I can only be really jealous as my ride is. . . the only ride I've had ever. My first car is my current car. :/ Here's to Slave!Cars. *raises glass*

If you ever need to bounce ideas around, lemme know. I am so there if it means helping you create more of teh fic. Kay? Chin up, angel toes. And if 99% of your posts are ramblings and embellishments focusing on your RL, then. . . well, that's okay with me. I'll tune in, same roxy place, same roxy time. :D *GLOMPS*

I can haz awkward first meetings with lj bffs? *nods* Yes, I can! *wink*

LOL! OMG, I put the AWK in awkward, but if you can deal, it should be fun! :)

Man, we had that car for 15 years. Hard to believe!

The problem I'm having with the fic is I can't find the info I need to go on. I'm not able to find out what machinery it would have taken to make a gun in those days--about 1850s. I can find colonial stuff--found some very nice vids--but not my time period. Plus, I'm torn between making the Colt as accurate as possible--or going with the show gun, which Weapons Box says is not accurate to the times. So I'm bogged down wondering if a blacksmith could actually easily make the transition to gunsmithing, or did I screw up there...I just don't know enough to ask the right questions and I'm feeling mired down in thinking.

Okay...I kind of snooped through the comment about the information that's stalling you. My father says he might know the info you need or he may be able to point you in the right direction. (He's into western history and gun history) But he says that he needs to know little more about what you're looking for.

Yep. He knows quite a bit about it. I told him it related to the Colt and he has a few ideas, but he's confused about what you need to know.

Ten years? TCHAH! My car was seventeen when it was smote by a falling tree limb.

I will be excited to read what hijinks y'all get up to at your house. Tell us, please, about the sexy new car. I assume it is sexy. If it is not, just pretend it is or lie.

Arrgh. Writer's block sucks.

How did you get into a corner? Have you already posted stuff that screws with you? Because if you haven't - or even if you have - my advice is this.

Delete, delete, delete. If you *must* save it, put it in a separate file called 'crap i should delete but can't'. Delete until you're in a space where you can go forward, and then - march on!

You're actually allowed to do this, i swear.

And i love Uno! We play Uno and dominoes at my mom's house, it's a blast! When my dad was still working, all the OR people would get together to drink and smoke and play Shaft Your Neighbor. It was great fun!

*twirls you*
*luffs you*

You know i'd read all sorts of lies stories just about you, bay-bee.

Ach, I'm such an anit-social person. I'm turning into my dad! At least I fake it well. The Couples are nice people but...very different. different sense of humor, different lifestyles. You know. We won't even get into my hobby. All they know about it is that I write internet porn for fun. Hah!

As for the story, it's NTM and it's not so much what I've posted that screws with me--it's that I counted too much on the info being easy to find when I started writing it. Thing is, I'm stuck trying to find what equipment a gunsmith would use-specifically, could one person, working alone, make a Colt Paterson type revolver. I found information that handguns are made today by blacksmiths in some African countries and seem to be pretty much one-man jobs, but it's the machines I need!

Yeah, i know the feeling - sometimes we've hung with people who are nice enough but just not...like us. Weird.

Hrmmmmm.... You don't have to be *too* specific - we don't have a clue what it took to make a gun! But - there might be some info here:
http://www.history.org/foundation/journal/autumn00/gunsmith.cfm

http://www.history.org/almanack/life/trades/tradegunfou.cfm

http://www.nps.gov/spar/historyculture/making-guns.htm

It seems like a lot of the parts were made via forging and casting, which don't really take much in the way of machines.... Plus a lathe, i'm sure, and a series of files and rasps....

And ask at little_details! You'd be amazed what people can come up with.
*smishes you*

Thank you so much! The last link was new to me, and had quite a bit of good information! If I can't find anything else, I'll just fuzzy it along. I found a couple of excellent vids at youtube demonstrating casting, so that will help.

*HUGS* I appreciate the help and the smishes! :)

When I read the book The Forty Rules of Love bought from http://www.uread.com/book/40-rules-love-elif-shafak/9780670918805, I wasn’t sure the story had any meaning in the real life, though I soon started noticing how almost everyone is unhappy the way their lives have turned out

Thank you! I'm feeling strangely undesperate about not being able to write. It feels like a vaguely achey tooth, the kind of thing you can mostly ignore until you drink somethinng too cold or what not. Oh well. I'll think about it as Mr. R drives me around in his spiffy new auto!

writing about your own life, whether straight up or mixed with fruit juice and a cherry, i will gladly read. e.g., this tale of the car, which is touching. best wishes to mr. roxy as he drives his sexy new car, and bon voyage to you as you head out for couples weekend.

but i think your writer's block will resolve itself somehow, by miracle or just your excellent writer's instinct. :)

Hmm... maybe Whitney's trying to get some revenge by stalling your Spn fic?

But you just can't give up fic period!!! (Though I'll still love you) Hmmm... maybe you can embellish your life a bit by fitting it into your fics. Take care of two things at once. ;)

YAY for new(ish) cars. :D Though... mine's 20 years old and I've had it for almost 6 years. But Adam's a good little Honda Accord and usually treats me pretty good. So I still loves him.
